I Got My M1A Problem Squared Away

After dealing with Springfield's warranty people, they have elected to send me a brand-new rifle. They are also paying for the shipping costs involved with sending the damaged goods back to them. Since it's coming UPS and not USPS, I should have my new M1A just after Thanksgiving!Just in time to go to my class at Front Sight!

Saxon:It almost made me change my mind and get a DSA Arms FAL, but I figured why not give it a second chance. After handling the rifle when it arrived, I actually kind of prefer it as opposed to all the pistol-gripped rifles I've owned. Mudge:It was easy! I just let them know what my problem was and that this was not only my first purchase as an FFL, but also my first Springfield purchase period. I went on to explain what had happened and my lack of results with Davidson's. After that, they wanted to send me the replacement part needed for the elvetaion knob. I told 'em that I still had a marred stock and barrel to deal with. They were a little apprehensive about giving me a brand new rifle, but after hinting in a polite manner that Springfield's firearms were not anywhere near as durable as they claimed, the lady in the Reapir Department told me to hang on. I assume she was talking to her supervisor. After a 2 minute wait, she got back on the phone and proceeded to tell me in no uncertain terms that she was sending me a new rifle and that it would be the best thing I'd ever shot in my life. I forgot to add that they are including a 20 round USGI magazine with the replacement rifle for my trouble. THAT, my friends, is customer service. Even if it's NOT the best rifle I've ever shot, I'll keep dealing with Springfield regardless. They are good people when provoked. ;-)P.S.Thank you, Mudge, for the incredible offer you made me for the replacement parts I needed. If there were more people like you in the world, things would be a lot better. God bless you and yours.

Evil ATF - Glad to hear you got your situation squared away. Sounds like SA is going to make it right and keep you as a customer, even though it might not completely be their fault. It just sucks that you had to go through all that trouble. I know if I lay down a bunch of bills, I am waiting for the delivery person, too. All this just to be not only disappointed, but actually upset about the delivered product. I feel your pain. Glad to hear it's being taken care of.

I was quietly watching this one and hoping it would turn out well.I picked up an M1-A Standard about a month back, and it's a very different flavor from my SAR-1. I really enjoy both at the range as they are very different shooting experiences. The M1-A has kind of a cool cold war vibe about it as well, moreso than an AR-15 in my mind.
