Exactly where on a catfish does a "nugget" come from?

Now that we are in Lent, those of us who are of the Catholic faith won't be eating meat on fridays. Got a package of catfish nuggets the other day for tomarrow's dinner and I gotta ask, just where in the heck do ya get a nugget off of a catfish? Are they any good, vs. filets?

I assume the nuggets are just chunks of meat from assorted parts of the fillet. I love them deep-fried with tartar sauce and cole slaw! You just made me hungry, I gotta go...................

I beleive that the nuggets are the cheek meat. this is reguarded as the best meat on most any fish by the locals who have the ability and knowledge to remove it. The cheek is the area right around the gills as I have been told.

I was wondering if it might not be the cheek meat as it resembles Walleye cheek fillets.

Nuggets is nuggets. I've skinned a few catfish in my life - ain't much meat around those cheeks. I caught a 9# channel cat with a pocket fisherman (remember those) that my brother got me for my birthday. He was so happy that I actualy caught something with it. You talk about a fight. Anyway - once they are skinned and fillet - just about the best tastin thing. Of course now in the NW and Salmon does tend to put them to shame.

Well I ate the nuggets and think they were just cut up fillets. Not bad, but not as good as fresh walleye!

Little Known Fact: Years ago fisheries used to punch out plugs from Shark and sell them as Scollops. Shark used to be considered junk fish. Speaking of which, Prime Rib used to be a cheap cut of meat because nobody wanted it. Any older Gentleman remember this?

I've seen "nuggets" in the local super markets that were nothing more than catfish belly meat. Don't matter how ya cook it, even the cat won't eat that stuff.

they still plug shark fins and ray wings. Usually they are called "Bay Scallops." I always liked prime rib, but I like mutton too.
