Did you know Daniel Pearl was American and Israeli?

I just found out a couple of days ago at the Newsmax forum that the US media and the Bush administration has kept the fact that Daniel Pearl was a dual citizen hidden from the American public. What do you think? (P.S. And NO, I'm not a Nazi because I want to know why!)Fitz

Heard his wife speak and she sounded Israeli. The big unanswered question in my mind is; Was he an Israeli agent as his killers claimed? It doesn't mitigate the fact that he was a murdered American civilian. I want the facts man, just the facts.

The fact is that a bunch of religious scum bags murdered him. When are we going to realize that moslem maniacs are a threat to civilization? They are insane by any definition of the term. Those idiots are still living in the dark ages.

SaxonPig, you're correct. It's called the "Law of Return." According to its criteria, I, too, am allowed to claim Israeli citizenship (but I won't). I don't think they want yet another Jew supporting the Palestinians!

I'm not Jewish, but I think somebody sounds a bit paranoid trying to make a conspiracy out of it. You might reconsider the objectivity of the posters on that other board. I don't get the feeling anybody is keeping anything hidden in that regard or that Pearl is guilty of anything at all other than being a reporter who took the same calculated risk that reporters often take, and got killed by people who apparently were trying to sell the notion that being Jewish in Afghanistan is a capital crime. But even that gives it more logic than it deserves. Pearl's death makes no more sense than the typical L.A. drive-by. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time, doing his job for the Wall Street Journal.

i believe the majority of these reporters appear to be of mid-eastern ancestry to help them fade into the populace easier. a blue-eyed blonde wont get the same story, imo.just look at fox's reporters. (even ol geraldo)

Pearl committed no capital crime. It was an act of capital, blind sided stupidity for a Jew to be in an area of violent anti Jewish hatred, assuming immunity. If he was indeed an Israeli spy as claimed by his captors, and we dont know that he wasn't do we,we have to remember that this is what historically happens to enemy agents. The only difference is, this time there is a public record of it.We dont have the facts to evaluate this event or to presume Pearls'innocence. It is however, no stretch to believe we are dealing with a vicious enemy that needs to be put to the sword when caught.

American Jews have two countries, The US and Iseral. They can be citizens of both countries. See if you can get two citizenships. Remember the kid who murdered another person here and fled to Iseral because he could get a better deal for the crime their. Boy, talk about being one of the protected classes.

Njretcop,There is no question that his murder was a brutal, cowardly act, and that his killers and anyone who took part in it, including people who might have known something but kept quiet, are evil. I also feel for his wife, family, and his unborn son. Being Jewish, Israeli, American, Mossad, or anything else, true or fictional, does not justify his death. One article I read claims that his Israeli citizenship was hidden from the public in order to prevent his kidnappers from learning that fact. I respect that decision, and I am also impressed with the ability of the entire Western world's media to be able to shut their mouths for a minute and collectively do something ethical, rather than just "get the story". Only a couple of newspapers reported the fact, and I'd like to know if Middle-Eastern papers (excluding Israeli ones) did, or have, since his murder. On the other hand, my "problem" is that not one news source in the US reported the fact even after his death. All of the news agencies talk about objectivity, and discovering "the truth". After the thousands of hours of collective airtime and miles of paper spent on the story, it seems normal that not one news source has reported it? Do you know the names of the 4 other reporters that were murdered in Afghanistan? How much airtime has been given to the US soldiers who were killed? When the media loves to have talking head segments discussing their favorite topic, themselves, wouldn't it seem to be a great story how they collectively tried to help one of their own? Nothing...nada.zip. The only thing that bothers me more than our Press intentionally hiding facts from us is our complacency when they do. It's the same sit-on-our-* attitude that lead to the 2nd Amendment becoming meaningless. Let's face it, times have changed, and we're at war. I think a national discussion on dual citizenship and allegiance to the US is vital. But any criticism of anything connected to Jews, by intention or coincidence, is unthinkable and that's WRONG! By the way, I'm also eligible for duel citizenship as well, but I felt it would somehow water down my American-ness.Fitz

The rationale for withholding public disclosure of Pearl's heritage makes perfect sense, if that did happen. It is not stupid for a reporter to go in harm's way, they do it all the time. American reporters go to a lot of places where they hate Americans too, so what's the difference? The media did however report that on the unseen tape of his execution, Pearl's last words(apparently he was forced to say them for the camera) were "I am a Jew, and my father was a Jew." Then somebody slashes him with a knife, unexpectedly. I would not call that a case of the media withholding data after the fact. All I can say is I am not a bigot, nor was my father a bigot. Neither are we Jews. Nor are we democrats. So what? A reporter got murdered by terrorists.

alltheway --During the Vietnam war when So. Vietnamese President Thieu's popularity was low with the American administration, Walter Cronkite went on the 6:00 news one night and reported that President Thieu's palace had just been bombed by a solo plane which had then landed at an airport where U.S. planes were based. That report then disappeared from the news radar. The palace was damagaed but Thieu was not killed, and I have always wondered how and why that report disappeared. I heard it with my own ears.

offeror...having a Jewish father does not make one a Jew.Judiasm is materlinial......by definition, a Jew is someone whose MOTHER was a Jew.
