www.auctionsniper.com Who is a member of this site? I'm giving it a shot for the first time just to stir the ol' pot. I think we should all email the company and suggest they modify their program for GB.Whatta ya all think?

I hate the sneaks on ebay that don't have the guts bid. They just hide in the shadows then then out bid you by a buck or so when it's too late to make another honest bid.

idsman75, it is impossible to snipe GunBroker. See the information regarding "The 15-Minute Rule" on one of the Help/FAQ pages.22WRF - [sorry AntiqueDr, we do not advertise for other sites] IS snipable, where GunBroker is not.

AntiqueDrThe proposal here is to modify GB auction's 15 min rule so it can be sniped..NO...NO..NO!The 15 min rule is great. As for AA I have never been sniped there but I suppose I could be. It's not near as prevalent as ebay

That was not the proposal as I read it. Idsman is wanting an email campaign to that particular sniping-software company to support GunBroker auctions. That simply wont work.As a volume GB seller, I enjoy when people get into sniping wars. The auction just keeps going and going...

Here's how it would work in GB. The program would detect when 15 minutes has been added to an auction due to a last minute bid. Then it would attempt a second snipe if there was another bidder after the sniping bid. You could have the program do the bidding for you while someone else is awake at 2am trying to hang onto those 15-minute extensions. The program asks you to set your upper limit to the auction so the outcome would be the same due to the 15-minute rule. However, you could be sleeping while it goes on.

Yes but auto bid can do the samething for you!~unless you dont want your bid placed until the few remaining seconds before the 15 minute rule kicks in ... then whos to say the other bidder isn't donig the same thing ... if he set his limit higher than yours you still loose ... with the 15 minute rule, I wouldn't call it "sniping" ...... but I guess it would be ok for placing that 2am bid ...

FWIW, I investigated the various sniping apps about eight weeks ago. All of them were designed for eBarf and most are compatible w/ GB. So the 15 minute rule is a great way to protect against gutless bottom fishers (oops, I mean snipers). OTOH, none of the apps work w/ AA which means that any sniper has to *be* there and manually enter the bid, with the attendant danger of a poor connection, heavy site traffic or server problems thwarting them at the crucial time. Six of one, half dozen of the other IMHO. All in all, eBarf imposing political correctness was a long term plus for the the shooting fraternity. And I don't mind that they see none of my money for their BS political contributions to the mushbrains.

You know, I was told one time that the world is a funny place....it's round, you see, and things keep falling off into your lap. If you want something bad enough, set your goal high enough to get it and you will. Otherwise, if you are patient, eventualy another one will fall off, and you will be there to catch it. Iv'e found that there rarely is such a thing as "one of a kind"

I guess because some of them is trying to get it for next to nothing. It is real simple, bid what you are willing to pay.And yes, I have been known to sit in front of the ole 'puter and type bids at the end of the auction.Ask me about the 2000 Ranger Club Cab I got on Ebay for a dollar more then the other guy....$11,5001, with 6,000 miles.

I don't understand what all the bitching and complaining is about. I bid on an auction as I wish. Everyone else has the same right. If I win that's ok. If you win that's ok too. Stop bitching. Next week the same thing will will be on auction.
So many guns to buy. So little money.

There was one old heifer on ebay that would snipe me continously. I think her husband must have died and left her insurance money to spend. She would have bids on 20-30 items at a time so one time I took the time to jump her one bid on each item to help her meet her reserve bid. I figure it cost her pretty good and I bet she remembers me.

I NEVER bid on an item until 20 seconds before it closes. Just put in my best offer and - boom - take my chances. By bidding early, all you do is drive up the price.

GunBroker.com has an anti-sniping provision built it (the '15 minute rule'). Even if you got them to change their software you would not be able to snipe GunBroker.comSniping is the exact opposite of bidding. Bidding is laying out your offer and seeing who wants the item the most. Sniping is an attempt to steal an item through technical trickery instead of legitimate bidding.

Admin, That is not right. You pay what you are willing to pay and take your chance.I do a lot of auctions, buying and selling, the bidders that do the most crying, is trying to get the item for the lest amount.I've done bids at the last second, won some and lost some...and I've sniped. The truck I got recently, by sniping, is a good example. The guy I outbid was mad as the dickens, reported me to auctionwatch and everybody else he could. Emailed me several times. When asked what his highest bid he was willing to pay, his reply was that was his highest bid!!Trickery? Nah, anybody can get the same software.
