And Opening Day is tomorrow. By Sunday evening, most of the gun-totin' tourists will be on their way back to whatever City they're from and we locals will have the river bottom to ourselves.

,,,,pix, pix !!!! Are ya taken the 'custom' rifle ?????[^]
Yep. This is exactly what I had her built for.
Thanks for reminding me to take the camera. I'll be hunting a whole 15 minutes from my house. Gawd how I love Rural Colorado.
If you want, I can take picture os the shoulder and haunch quarters hanging in my garage[:D]
There isn't much of a story, I was hunkered down in the willows at river's edge, watching two does cavort about 500 yards away when I heard a splash to my right. There, about 25 yards away was a little (and I mean little) doe, standing in the water, watching me. I slowly raised the 257 Roberts and put the cross-hairs on her chest. She obligingly took a quarter turn and I shot her.
She flipped up and back into the water. I chased her downstream for about 200 yards where she hung up on a tree.
When we were quartering her out, I found that her left foreleg had been broken and was infected up to the knee. I just threw that whole shoulder away, coz it smelled funky.
I feel terrific about my first deer hunt. I would have loved a larger doe, but I consider it an honor to have ended this little girl's pain.
