How America Works...

Let's see if I understand how America works lately...

If a woman burns her thighs on the hot coffee she was holding in her lap while driving, she blames the restaurant.

If your teen-age son kills himself, you blame the rock 'n' roll music or musician he liked.

If you smoke three packs a day for 40 years and die of lung cancer, your family blames the tobacco company.

If your daughter gets pregnant by the football captain you blame the school for poor sex education.

If your neighbor crashes into a tree while driving home drunk, you blame the bartender.

If your cousin gets AIDS because the needle he used to shoot up with heroin was dirty, you blame the government for not providing clean ones.

If your grandchildren are brats without manners, you blame television.

If a deranged madman shoots your friend, you blame the gun manufacturer.

And if a crazed person breaks into the cockpit and tries to kill the pilots at 35,000 feet, and the passengers kill him instead, the mother of the deceased blames the airline.

I must have lived too long to understand the world as it is anymore.

So if I die while my old, wrinkled butt is parked in front of this computer, I want you to blame Bill Gates, OK?

    Heres one more for ya...
Woman lays on the subway tracks, gets run over by a train, survives, then sues the subway company for neglect... Yep.. she did..and she WON... 10 million dollars...It was on Fox and O'reilly last night... Classic and I watched in stunned silence... We thought maybe she sued because she survived, but the story ran that she laid on the track for 6 minutes and because the subway company was aware of her on the tracks (someone had phoned them and told them about a woman on the tracks) and didnt stop..
Now tell me, is that right?... You set out to commit suicide, survive, then sue?... cause the train didnt stop? OH man.. how stupid..Has the country gotten so money hungry?..

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

Or how about the 80 year old woman that was strip seached? Yep.. airport security.. her knee replacement set off the alarm, so they strip searched her... In the meantime, how many "terrorists" (OMG I used that word.. slaps my hands) walked through security while she was being searched?.. Happened in Michigan I believe.. That was on Fox last night too..

It is exactly cases or stories like that, that makes many people i know here - smile wide and often laugh out loud too.

If a european moves to the US - it is advised that he/she finds a respected lawyer first.
Many companies worldwide won't get in on the american market either - because of the risk of silly lawsuits like "Oh darn, my cat exploded in the microwave oven. Hey - the manual didn't say DO NOT DRY ANIMALS IN THE OVEN!!"
    CA-CHIIIIING 5mill dollars won....

It is impossible to write an owners manual that fits every american - overhere, if a mistake is made - hey, we learned from it. so be it.
we know what a toaster is built for - doesn't go on heating our pants with it... at least we've got fast thinkin' grey cells between our ears.
(hey - that was not an attack at every american!!!! guess it was only an "attack" at the lawyers and people who places weird lawsuits!.)

guess the nickname fits USA - the united bluff !
sometimes it works - other times, it pretends to work.

BUT if you ask me... does America work??
Yup, sure does. It's just taken a whole other path than every other country in this small world.

Too Many Stinking Lawyers out there. If there is not enough business, you gotta make some. (No offense Beantole, I am sure you are a decent fellow.)

Here's a good one....Homeowner buys a toy boomerang, tries it out in the back yard.Too dumb to get out of the way when it comes back(works as advertised)and it almost takes his head off(probably not a big loss)so...he gets a lawyer and tries to sue the toy company.Company says read the warning(disclaimer)on the box that warns of possible injury if used by idiots, and the company wins the case. Not satisfied with one attempt to tell the rest of the world that he has no sense,he then gets his lawyer to sue his own home-owners insurance company.Sad part is...he wins!.........Yes,I do believe Shakespere was right when he suggested that we kill all the lawyers. But it is too late now, they multiplied!

Little people talk about people, regular people talk about things, and big people talk about ideas.

One of my favorite disclaimers is the one that comes with Push mowers about not trimming scrubs with the mower. I guess there were some morons that lost a couple of fingers when they started the mower, lifted it off the ground and cut their bushes with it.....Duh
