    What's your beef with AK-47's and SKS's?

To idsman75. Kind sir, please understand that the AK is an inferrior weapon compared to that of the abilities of an AR-15. At least that is what I have read.
Please feel free to enlighten me on the better qualities of such a crude weapon. I wonder why one would ponder the statement you made?

Back to topic. I have known many who own Chrysler minis and seem to like them. I haven't heard of any major problems. I did know someone who owned a Ford and sold it quick. I don't know the reason. I only know of 1 guy who had a Chevy and had a lot of problems.

To SSG idsman75. Please sir dont feel embarassed for not having any pertinent info for your statement on the AK.
You might be supprised on how many unknowledgable people just as yourself have been unduley swayed to believe the AK is the numero uno weapon of choice.
    Glad I could help.

Heh heh heh. Cute. Actually, I have never felt that the AK/SKS type weapons were superior. My choice of weapon is dependent upon the envoronment in which I find myself. I can picture environments in which I would prefer an AK-47. There are times I would prefer an M-4. If I had to pick just one, it would be an STG-58 Carbine.

Aint no way thats Bullzeye trying to be funny. as much as he hates the AR and M16 I think he would rather cut off his foot than say that, even trying to be sarcastic Bull would never say that. He praises the commies and spits on the American military and LEO's for using that weapon, there is no physical way he could say that, not even with a gun to his head could he say that.

    7mm,
Yeah, but Bullzeye only has first hand knowledge of the 7.62x54, and he is always quoting what he reads, just as his dad just did, I think you are possibly incorrect if you think this isnt him.

    idsman75,just playin along.
As for the Van,I'd say long term GM

    Cry. has AC problems.

    Ford headgasket problems,rust.

I've seen fewer problems long term w/GM

Just my O2 PS. I like will270win SUV idea

Let me qualify a previous statement. My personal choice for an all-purpose rifle (if I could only have one) would be a DSA SA58 Carbine.

If the SUV is out try the Toyota. Know a few that own these things and they have no problems. Purty dang comfy as well. I think maybe it's called a Sienna or something maybe.

I bought a Dodge Grand Caravan new in 1993. No major problems. Sold it with 207,000 miles to a lady who uses it daily on a paper route, still.

In 2000 I bought a 1997 Grand Caravan. No major problems either, and it now has 104,000 miles.

I just traded for a Chevy Venture. I will have to let you know.

Dear idsman75. Im sorry that I cant reply as to the fact that I have no knowledge of the weapon of which you speak. Im certain that a military man as yourself would make decisions based on hands on experiance and I feel you being in your position have a justifyable reason for it.

To Will270win. The imports look attractive with the fuel economy but when purchasing replacement parts Ive read that the price is often times double or even three times the cost of that of the american made vehicles.

Thanks ever so much for your response.

I bought a 1997 Chrysler Town & Country LXi with 44k on it in Sept. 2000. It now has 65k on it and we absolutely love it. The 3.8L V6 is smooth and has decent power. I was sceptical of Chrylsers because I had heard of tranny problems so I got the extended warranty. I have not had to use it yet. I get 18 mpg or so around town and 23 on the interstate. The a/c blows cold, the Infinity sound sytem sounds super, and the ride is awesome. I have decided that if it proves reliable I will keep it until at least 150k or better.

The lovable rat. Your name is very interesting a to the fact that the only exposure to rats that I have had has been either in traps or the ones my son loves so dearly.
You are the first lovable rat I have met.
    Thanks again for your advise.

A buddy of mine has very good things to say about the Trailblazer, but I think the Envoy looks interesting in terms of design. Sorry I can't tell you offhand who makes either. I've owned Toyotas and they are solid. I also owned an Accord and I must tell you Hondas feel like they're made of aluminum to Toyota's steel alloy. Neither was particularly expensive to fix, and things seldom went wrong anyway. I have been told by experts that Toyotas in particular are "over-engineered" to the point that the faults are literally tested out of them before they ever see a showroom. I drove an automatic 90,000 miles and never needed transmission work, for example. And Toyotas will stop on a dime, while the Honda tended to fishtail in emergencies.

If you have to buy American, look at the newer minis that are engineered to handle more like cars. You'll be happier with the performance and no doubt the safety.

I bought a GMC Safari (ie Chev/Astro). I work at a telecom company and we ran Astros for years, so I asked the mechanic, he said that about the only thing that went early on them was the kingpins, and that was at 50-60000 mi. (btw we ran the pi$$ out of them). One thing I dont like about it is the HVAC. I got a small cig lighter fan and place it under the 2nd row seat to keep the air moving. It has a 4.6 L V6, it WILL get out of its own way in a hurry. The GM is the only mini built on a truck plaform, the rest are overgrown sta wagons.

I am a comfirmed Ford guy but on the Ford mini's I have heard that the reliabilty isnt there. Dodge has left me walking WAY to many times, I dont even consider them.

As soon as I can unload my POS Dodge, I am buying a Ford.

Bought used in '97 with approx 30k miles, since then I have put about 27k miles on it. (a 95 w/ 57k miles is not high miles) In that time it has had a new a/c, THREE sets of lifetime breaks, one rebuilt tranny and the POS is still needing fixed. Never again will I buy a Chevy/GM/. If I could afford new, maybe, w/ a warranty. This is a lemon w/o a doubt, but I never had problems with any of the Fords or my Toyota.

My wife is also wanting a mini-van, she's been reading consumer reports for safest, fewest problems, best resale yada yada yada ... done about everything except take a poll at the mall she says:

    1. Toyota
    2. Honda
    3. Ford

Just my two cents. I think today they are all about the same. The key is maintenance. How well you care for it is how good the mini will be for you. Pick a price range then buy the one you like the best. My sister had a OLDs. that they got a lot of miles out of, however when they went to buy a new one they felt for the money spent the Ford was nicer. So they just bought a ford about 8 months ago and love it. Bottom line I think they all have lemons and gems. The main thing is how you care for it.

Maybe I'm biased (from Detroit) but you guys with all your Toyota/Honda crap are killing me. Why do you turn your backs on your countrymen and buy foreign???

My wife and I had to buy something like a minivan, but I will NEVER do it. So, I bought her a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo yesterday. It is a nice truck, V8, moonroof, good stereo and 4x4. Oh, it's also big enough for the baby, the dog, the wagon and groceries.

    BUY AMERICAN!

Actually, I think the best mini is a skirt on a long legged girl in her twenties, preferably 5' 9" or taller. What was I thinking before when I blathered on about cars?

Dad, the Chevrolet belonged to a co-worker. His wife wanted a real car with a trunk instead of a van, so he offered it to me for the payoff. It was much more heavily equipped than the Dodge and newer, so I bought it.

True enough, the Dodges served well. But, my Chevrolet trucks have also served well. I think they all start off about equal and the difference is in how you treat and maintain them.

Sorry RugerNiner & offeror (not that I have anything aginst mini-skirts because I REALLY like 'em) ... but I must disagree!

The only one to get it correct was Richie Rich, however what usually comes to my mind when I think of the GE Mini-Gun, is Arnold Swartznager in that movie with the alian hunters ... the name escapes me
