FOUND ON A GOLF COURSE IN ARIZONA !!! Wed, 4 Jul 2012 07:51:18

This is why you shouldn't go looking for the golf balls hit 'Out of Bounds' in Arizona !!!

Snake.jpg

THIS IS NOT A PYTHON!

This is a 15 foot Western Diamondback
Rattlesnake - the largest ever caught on record.

This snake was found Near the St. Augustine
outlet, in a new KB homes subdivision just south of
Mesa Az.

A little research revealed the following:

One bite from a snake of this size would contain enough
venom to kill over 40 full grown men, and knock them
off their feet with the first strike!

An attack from a snake of this size would most likely
involve many bites before the victim could get away if
at all possible.

The head of this snake alone is larger than the hand of a
normal sized man.

A bite from those fangs would be comparable to being stabbed
by two curved, 1/4 inch diameter screwdrivers 2 inches long.

The knife being used to draw out the fangs for the bottom
picture has a blade around 6 inches long.

This snake is estimated to have weighed over 170 pounds.
(How much do you weigh?)

Notice the girth of this snake as compared to the cop's
leg in the first picture (and he is not a small man).

A snake of this size could easily swallow a 2 year-old
child, dogs, cats, piglets, rats & etc....

A snake this size has an approximately 5 1/2 foot
accurate striking distance.
The distance for an average size rattlesnake is about 2 feet.

This snake has probably been alive since George Bush Sr.
was President.

Now just ask yourself these questions:

What has this snake been feeding on and where are its
offspring?

That is an Eastern Diamondback. There is no St. John's County in Arizona, that is a Florida story, with a ton of forced perspective.

I think I seen the same pick in a story two years ago...

There are alot of things wrong with these pics and story.

For one, the snake weighing 170# No way the person holding the snake pole could hold it up like that. Even Hulk Hogan in his prime could not hold 170# out at the end of a pole like this.

Yes it is a large snake but the snake is being held close to the camera. This is a little photo trick to make something look bigger. Fishermen use this trick to make their fish look larger.

As already pointed out, this story was originally from Florida about 3 years ago.

At best, this snake is maybe 7'.

I know it is bs. Mesa is located in Maricopa county and the next county south of us is IIRC is Pima. As has already been stated I don't believe there is a St. John's county is AZ.

+1. I used to be stationed at DMAFB i Tucson (Pima County). Here's a list of AZ counties ...

and FL counties (where Saint Augustine and St Johns County is located)

The picture is real, the story is fake. This snake was killed in (near) St. Augustine Florida in September of 2009, near the outlet mall. The perspective is very misleading as the snake was measured at seven feet long. Eastern Diamondback's don't live in Arizona and are the largest of all venomous snakes native to the U.S.

I can understand public safety but a live snake that size could have been a asset to a zoo.

Big snake, but nowhere near 15 feet.

A 15 foot rattler would be so anomalistic that it would make front page news world wide.

I live in Mesa AZ and you can walk the desert for months and not see a rattlesnake. In the last 30 years of camping and hunting Ive run into 5 of them (If you dont count what you see on roads at night while driving) No such thing as a rattlesnake that can knock you off your feet. Rattlesnake bites while painful and destructive rarely kill unless you are allergic to them. This is internet BS

    Fixed it... [;)]

Like it or not... Snakes have a purpose in this world...
And as long as they stay out of the paths of most people and vehicles...
Snakes of ALL kinds usually go on about their business without harm...

'Round this area... Black snakes, King Snakes (not sure if they're actually different)
and simple garden varieties of snakes are allowed to co-exist within my property.

And as long as they're far enough away from the house and yards...
I even let venomous snakes pass unfettered simply 'cause the other less desirable 'critters' are much worse IMO...
And snakes in general do more 'good' than 'harm'...
Don't mess with'em and "usually" they'll NOT mess with you... [;)]

its not hard when you're playing to easily led automatons who flatly refuse to do any research before propagating internet bs even further.

Born and raised out in the desert in Calif. Never saw a live rattlesnake till I was stationed with the Marines at Camp Pendelton. Even when Stationed at 29 Palms I never saw one. Except when one of my Marines caught a bunch of worms(Baby Rattlesnakes).

Nice. Now all they need is 1 egg, salt, pepper, garlic salt, half cup of milk and some flour. cut that bad boy into 2 inch filets, Beat egg and milk. Mix salt, pepper, garlic salt, and flour. Preheat deep fat fryer with cooking oil. Dip snake into egg mixture and then in flour mixture and place it in hot oil. Cook until golden brown.

    I love animals, they're delicious.

The AZ desert is alive with rattlesnakes in the spring. They are all on the move day and night, until they get their tummies full, after a long fast. During the summer, they seek out cool places during the day and come out to hunt at night. I only collided with two during the hot summer daytimes. They are the original heat-seeking missile, my neighbor had one knock the flashlight out of his hand, one night.

It's just one snake. A man that will step aside for a snake, might as well walk.

as a kid we used to shoot water snakes with .22,s in the summer, but as i got older i quit killing venomous snakes unless they are around the house or hunting camp in the summer as the children play around the camp at cookouts. i saw a mounted eastern diamond back that was 53 inches with out his head on a very nice walnut board and it was impressive. eastbank.
