Surgery Tuesday - Then I'll be Back...

I haven't posted much lately because I can't sit at the computer very long due to back pain. I've tried everything known to man and am finally resorting to surgery. The problem is a herniated disc in my neck pinching off a nerve. They are going to put me under and fix it on Tuesday morning. If all goes well (I'm sure it will), I'll be back in action and posting some by late next week. I miss chatting with you guys (and girls)! I have been reading some and posting a little, whenever I can. I'd appreciate your prayers. KG

One of the guys I worked with has a wife with a herniated disk. She recently walked into a doctor's office here in NJ, had laser surgery in the office and drove home.
I myself am retired because of the same condition. This surgery was not available when I injured my back. I am thinking of going to be looked at by this doctor.
Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

"It was like that when I got here".
njretcop - have not found anyone here that does laser on this type yet (lower neck actually, not back) but I am having microsurgery. It requires general anesthesia (ugh!) but is done with a very small incision (1") in the morning and I go home that afternoon. Supposed to be very quick recovery - probably back to work in a day or 2. Two friends have had it done and said it was pretty easy.

One woman's opinion
To err is human, to moo is bovine.
If I knew then, what I know now.
My best wishes also. I'm what doctors call a "good patient." I put myself in the hands of the pros and do whatever they tell me. I'm not in Cooper's "condition white" (oblivious) and I ask a lot of questions sometimes, but I treat the docs and the nurses and staff with utmost genuine respect. Roll with it, and it'll go great. Follow instructions. Take it easy afterward. I'll bet you'll feel better almost immediately. Don't be afraid of the pain pills, but take 'em according to the label. And if one makes you sick or doesn't make you feel any more comfortable, make them change the scrip. No reason to hurt these days, over something like this.
I'll bet this is going to improve your "quality of life" and you'll be thankful you got it done as soon as you did. Don't be afraid to rib the doctor about cutting in the wrong spot -- it keeps 'em on their toes.

Hope everything goes well...you'll be in my prayers also.
