I've seen a bunch of discounted training certificates on gunbroker for Front Sight. For instance: http://www.forthehunt.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=2986321 I've taken the Free SMG Class there and it rocked. Anyone have any experience with the regular classes before I bid on one of these certificates???

Bullz, it was truly awesome. It's worth the trip to Vegas! What state do you live in (if you're in Kali, at least its a close trip).Evil ATF, please post a report, I'm sure some of these certs will still be up for auction by then.

I live in NY, but I'm seriously thinking about just getting a round-trip Southwest flight and staying in a Motel 6.Nevada's gun laws are like Vermont's except that there isnt as many lesbians and cottage-cheese eaters in Nevada.

Bullz:If you decide to go to the Defensive Handgun class with the rest of us on Feb. 22-25, you're welcome to split a room with me, if you like. Be tough for ya' to get out of school, though!Perhaps I'm being too hasty, but, if I had it to do over again, I would have paid to go to Thunder Tanch instead. Again, I haven't even been to Front Sight yet, so I'm just looking at it from a $$$ standpoint. The only reason I chose FS over TR is that the FS certificates were available here, making the $1,000 class only $400. However, there is no on-site housing at FS. TR has on-site camping for $10 per night! Or, rent an on-site cabin for $70 per night. Plus, Thunder Ranches classes are 5 days instead of 4. All in all, even with the class being $1,000 at TR instead of $400 at FS, I'd rather go to Thunder. I'll be going there for my Urban Rifle this spring. Plus, I hear that Clint Smith at TR is "Patriot" friendly, unlike Front Site. Take anything at FS besides a handgun course and they start in with the 20 questions routine.

Evil ATF, that's gotta be the nicest thing anybody's said to me all the time I've been on this board. Thank you very much for the offer.Unfortunately, after getting all shot in the * with the idea, I realized they probably arent going to allow anyone in unless they are 21 or older and own their own pistol. Nevermind the $500 to enter and the airfare and accomodations and whatnot.Oh well. Perhaps when I'm old and rich.I got the new Ruger catalog today, and I'm delighted to see that a P-512 .22LR pistol with a 5 1/2 inch bull-barrel and composite furniture is only $275, which means it's under $200 at a store. When the hell is 21 gonna hurry up and arrive? Forget the booze, I want a damn pistol!

Evil ATF,Having actually been to both schools, I can attest that Front Sight is superior in both the training and $$$ categories. Yes the courses are 4 Days, but they pack in the content of what other schools cover in 5 days and do it much more efficiently and coherently. Front Sight holds these over weekends, so all I had to take off from work was a Friday and Monday, rather than all week.I stayed in nearby (20 minutes) Pahrump NV at the Saddle West Hotel/Casino for $40/night because they worked out a special deal for Front Sight students. Split that two ways and you get a real hotel room with real beds, restaraunts, gambling, etc, for $20/night.I bought a course certificate for 1/2 price when I went to Front Sight's Free SMG class that the first guy mentioned, and was able to buy as many as I wanted at that price. I've also seen many other discounted specials and certificates for sale all over the place. Try and find the same for any other school... you're not gonna do it b/c they're in the business of ripping you off.Where did you hear this BS about Front Sight not being "patriot friendly"??? They offer a free Uzi class to the American people for christs sake. My brother has taken a 4-Day Rifle and 2-Day Select Fire M-16 course there and didn't have to "answer 20 questions"; its the same application I used for the Free Uzi and 4-Day Handgun class. You can sign up right now to take their 4-Day SMG Class and use their MP5 and ammo and you'll fill out the same app you did for the HG class. Might want to check your facts on this one. FS has also spent $500,000 trying to secure gun rights for the American people, and has even partnered with the GOA to lobby congress for you... do you see Clint Smith dropping a dime of his own money for us "patriots"? Nope.Sorry for ranting, and I'll get off my soapbox... I just hate to see any misinformation spread about what I think is the best shooting school in the world; especially when they are being called unpatriotic.Again, having actually been to both, I would go to Front Sight again and again and again.

BullzEye,Might want to at least give them a call. I've seen 12 year olds training on the handgun at Front Sight. Of course they had their parent there, but if you are over 18 you might as well call and give it a shot. They rent out guns if you don't have one.LB

I gotta concur with LB about Front Sight. If they gave me and 100 other people from all walks of life a Free Uzi class, they are on the level. I saw nothing suspicious. Please anyone let us know otherwise!

It might be worth a try. They seem like a pretty reasonable organization.I've never had a AD, my safety checks on my guns borders on OCD, and I have several adult friends who are nationally certified to teach hunter safety courses and pistol safety courses who can vouch for me.
