Ok I'm stealing this idea from another board. I watched this for a week and the guys/gals there seem to enoy posting to it.
It's called name that tune. Somebody puts some lyrics up and we try to guess who sang it. Since I'm an 80's metal head there are a lot of you older country folks who won't get this one but here it goes, who sang this song;
WHATAYA MEAN I DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD,,TALK TO HIM EVERY DAY
WHATAYA MEAN I DON'T SUPPORT YOUR SYSTEM,,I GO TO COURT WHEN I HAVE TO
WHATAYA MEAN I CAN'T GET TO WORK ON TIME,,GOT NOTHIN BETTER TO DO
WHATAYA MEAN I DON'T PAY MY BILLS,,WHY DO YA THINK I'M BROKE
Who is it? And for those of you who never heard it, you should man it's an awsome tune!

Here's one for you ! He lived in Nashville in an Airplane.
He had a song about jumping out of his uncle's airplane.
Who is he?
"Heavy hung the canopy of blue
Shade my eyes and I can see you
White is the light that shines through the dress that you wore"
Of course, my signature is a couple lines of lyrics, too....

Now name THAT band. I dare ya!
Actually, I remember 7mm mentioning that he likes 'em, so he might be able to guess it. And .218 managed to pick Flea out of that RHCP picture a while ago, so he might get it too.

The answer is Red Lane. He lived in a 707 converted into living quarters outside Nashville. So many downed aircraft calls came into the Nashville control tower, that he had "Red Air Lane" painted on the wings of the plane. The song you're speaking of is "The Day I Jumped From Uncle Henry's Plane".
I saw the plane/home first hand right after he had it disassembled and moved to his property.

"De Oppresso Liber"
I have the song stuck in my head now and its Stephen Stills voice im hearing
"let not your work smack of the trowel, nor your words cause a blow from one either..."
Now let's switch to Rock & Roll.
Steve Hiller and Pete Simmons wrote this song that was released in 1970. The song sung by a then unknown group mirrors today's times.
Who recorded the song and what was the title ?
Don't think you told us enough about the questions.
How about some more details - I'm leaning towards "United We Stand-Divided We Fall" by the Brotherhood of Man ...... not sure, though.
"If you can do it, it ain't braggin'".
JR Ewing - "Dallas"
Here's one for old time Country Music fans:
The words are: "She's been walked on and stepped on
So many times, and I hate to admit it but that last footprint's mine--
What's the title of this song ?
Jim
"De Oppresso Liber"
Sawz -- nope.
Bullzeye -- maybe, if that isn't your signature line.
No one is close on the actual quote in my post.

These are way too easy. You're right!
The Brotherhood of Man had a million seller with "United We Stand"

What was the name of Charlie Daniel's first hit song, about the hippy with the "green teeth"? Come on now, this ones easy!
"If you can do it, it ain't braggin'".
JR Ewing - "Dallas"
Charlie Daniel's first hit about the hippy with the green teeth was "Uneasy Rider".
Also, since no one guessed my question, The song was titled
"Life Turned Her That Way" written by MMMMMMel Tillis, and recorded by him as well as many others.
(I was in Nashville for 20 years)

"De Oppresso Liber"
Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog"? (it was number 1 for weeks)
Richie Vallens' "La-Bamba"? (also a number 1 for weeks)
What was the nickname of the third star killed along with Buddy Holly and Richie Vallens when their plane went down in an Iowa cornfield?
Man, those were the days...when rock-and-roll was getting started. Ya-hoooooo!!! We nearly drove our parents crazy! Bop-bop-ba-lou-bop-ta-bop-bam-boom! Oh, Little Richard, I miss you...and Lucille...and Tutty-Fruitty...
Oops! I gotta straighten up. There may be young people reading this thread...I could destroy my image.

And William81 is right on the Big Bopper!
Man, when did you guys grow up? You must have been teenagers in the 50's like I was. Those were the days. I had a 51 Chevy, all the chrome removed and leaded in, chrome moon eyes over the headlights, pin striped, flipper hubcaps, lakes plugs down the sides, and it was so low you couldn't slide a pack of cigerettes under it. Varrrrroooooommmmmmmmmmm! Ducktail haircut, low riding bluejeans, blue suade shoes. And my poor dad would shake his head in bewilderment...
That would be "The Eleven" by "The Boys" of course.
God I miss them......sigh. Was waaaaaaaaaaaaay into touring a long time ago.....did about 180 shows or so.
Merc
NO! You may not have my guns! Now go crawl back into your hole!
47 Plymouth coupe; same thing but with bull-nose chrome on the hood and a set of pipes that would chip concrete in the Center Street underpass.
Them were the days, when smokin' a cigarette was an asswhippin' offense, and if a 16-year-old thought his old man couldn't do it, got a big surprise.
Clouder..
