Illegal Gun Sales News Feature

Did anyone else see this? I only caught a portion of this story. It was on Dallas Fox 4 news tonight, though it seemed like it was probably a feature from a non-local source. They were talking about how illegal gun sales are up since Sept. 11 and had video tape of illegal gun sales, where the people buying the weapons were speculating about "getting into the business." People buying first guns illegally, admitting that they never had handeled a firearm before, pointing it at themselves and the dealer as they played around with it, etc. One guy said something like, "Ya, take a $400-$500 gun and sell it for $2500, that's great." There was other footage of a guy buying one on a street corner from his car. The whole story seemed a little strange, and a lot fake. I am just curious if anyone saw the whole thing and, if so, what you thought about it?

I remember when Geroldo did the piece on illegal sales in I think Chicago and and spent 5 or 6 hundred dollars for a Maverick 45 (They are Hi Point now) and claimed it was a Glock 45 . And This was even before Glock made a 45. He asked for something more powerfull after being offered an old break top 32 for 200.00 I still remember the quote And then after 2 hours I had it the most wanted weapon on the street the Glock 45 magnum. What a hoot

I got a little more info on this from a guy that called in to a local talk radio show here in DFW Sunday night. Apparently, the slant that they were trying to run was that everyday, ordinary, law-abiding citizens were becoming criminals by buying guns illegaly. Now, the footage they are showing is of a couple of guys sitting around a coffee table with a big ol' water bong on it, exchanging money for a handgun (or at least a gray Ruger box). Yeah, this is your average, law-abiding citizen that isn't there to buy dope, he's there to unwittingly buy a handgun that is marked up 300% over retail. This other viewer seemed to think it was tape from NJ or MD, so keep your eyes open on your local FOX channels, they may air it when they don't have any real news to report. BTW, the talk-radio show is called Law And Disorder on 105.3 FM, from 5-7 PM on Sundays. It is hosted by the owner of DFW Gun Range. It's pretty cool, you might want to check it out if you're in the Metroplex.
