I use to work with a fellow his dad made it thru , the march
my " new buddy co-worker " had just got hired at a japan company with about 200 of us this was in 1978 /79 time frame and was afraid his dad would be mad after what he had been thru . he told me his dad just ask they are paying you with USA dollars
they go for it
a good job is too hard to find

My platoon sgt in basic was a survivor. He later escaped & joined the guerrillas. He landed in Korea soon after that war started & fought up the west coast & then back down.
Tiny little Filipino, older than the other sgts. He was the only one who carried a M1, full pack & helmet on the marches.

My wife's uncle survived the march. He hated Japanese till the day
he died.
