Well picked up the new 870 express at wally world and I have to say i was impressed with the fit and finish for the price. Stripped the shotgun and overall no burs or unfinised spots on the entire shotgun. Plan on sending a mix of 2 3/4 and 3 in shells through it sometime this week to check reliability. Overall I cant complain about the shotgun for the price point.

Glad to hear you got it and happy with it. But why would it be different than a higher priced one in a 'gun store'? Does the manufacture have two sets of tools, machines, dies, ect.? One set is for high priced dealers and the beat up broken set of dies and tools are used lower priced higher volume runs?

I don't think it would be different however you always hear speculation of walmart carrying lower quality runs of the firearms that are sent out. I just wanted to try and ease the minds of folks who are worried about picking up something at walmart for a cheaper price. I love my local gun shop but he couldn't come close to the price I payed for this one at walmart.

I do not know about firearms, but in some areas this does happen. BIL is in clothing manufacturing, and tells me that many well-known clothing companies make one kind of product for the high end stores and a very similar looking but lower quality product for TJ Maxx and other discount stores. Sometimes first quality merchandise does end up at TJ Maxx and Marshalls, but when it does happen the expensive stores require that it be marked defective or irregular, even when it isn't. The expensive stores don't want people thinking that sometimes they can get the same product for much cheaper right down the street.
