Help me finish college! Retired LEO.

Hey everyone....Happy New Year!!

Putting it briefly....I'm a disabled, retired LEO and have over 3-years of college under my belt but life kept me away from finishing off my 4-year degree. Sort of a matter of internal pride.

Does anyone know an internet college who gives LOTS of credit for work experience? I can't afford their fees to wrap up this effort. I lived a lot of life and have a healthy work dossier!?!?

And while I'm shooting for the moon (no pun), anyone want to put me in their will and pass on a 1971, 72 or 73 Mustang (Sportsroof) Fastback to me??? Just askin'...........[?]

Columbia Southern University gives college credits for LE training and work experience. I have officers doing CSU online. One received up to 31 credit hours for his police academy and supplemental training. They give 10% tuition discount for LE. You better hurry if you want in for the next semester, one of my guys told me he had to have all his training certificates in to them by Jan 30.

I got my 4 year Degree in 2015. I started college in 1971, went until 76, went in the Coal Business & worked until 2012. I have a Regents Bachelor of Arts Degree from West Virginia University Institute of Technology. It is a Work Experience Program & I had 117 College Hrs. that were somehow still good. Took 1 Online class & got It. Check out the WVUIT Website. Good People. I was in a Nursing Home when I did it.

HEY! Thanks for the leads!! I WILL check them out right after the weekend. There might STILL be hope!

My son is finishing 20 years in the Alaska Air National Guard and has had his degree before even joining the Air Guard. I'd sure like to see his old man make the grade! I was Vietnam, my boy was Enduring Freedom....but I'd sure like to be all the things he thinks I am!!

And my wisecrack about the Mustang was because my son and I rebuilt cars...including Mustangs and AMC AMXs. Sure would like to get one again!

AND...Hello Rich!! Good to hear from you

Man, I will just be praying you get this done. I would love to finish my degree, but Marriage and kids got in the way. I have two years left. 53 now and know I will never get it done. Donna told me several times to just finish, but I have no use for it at this point. I was studying Nursing. I wanted to work as a trauma nurse or OR nurse. My friend works on life flight. We started together, but I dropped out to support the family. I did finance my wife and support her, when she was going for her degree in Dentistry. She got her Hygiene licence and I got to pay a huge bill[V] It was worth it though. Go for it and get R done. Oakie

    I was about to recommend.
I have a friend who worked with them.
A very satisfactory experience for him.

I would also give your local not-for-profit college and university a call, explain your situation, and see what they say. Your situation is more common than you think, and your state university has people trained to help you out. If they don't have the specific program you're looking for, then they will probably be able to point you in the right direction of another school that would. Call up, ask for the admissions department, and describe where you are, what you have, and what you'd like to earn. Don't be afraid to talk about money and what you can afford to pay.

    Good luck.
