jeez what is the fasination with little guns around here, isnt the best part about being "grown up" is so that you dont have to play with little girlie guns. ok rembrandt no insult to you but please tell me WHAT IS SO FUN ABOUT SHOOTING A .17 CALIBER BULLET, THAT SOUNDS LAME TO ME. .22'S SUCK ALSO[This message has been edited by jdb123 (edited 03-09-2002).]

...don't get me wrong, I like big bores also. What makes this so facinating is that it will give shooters, who have been plinking at small game with .22's and .22 magnums, something that is capable of 200 yards and 2550 fps. Should be great for crows, woodchucks, rabbits, squirrels, and game you may not want to tear up with a bigger round. To chamber this into a semi-auto handgun round could also bring some new handgun restrictions. That velocity and pointed bullet will no doubt raise concerns about penetrating body armor....remember the "cop killer bullet" controversy? Needless to say, this has a spot in the handgun hunting market...there are many times I would rather carry a handgun than a rifle when going to the woods. Since this round is fairly new, it will be interesting to see what each manufacturer has to offer in the near future.

Did somebody say......ARMADILLOS.I remember one time when a friend and I caught am armii andtied an old school m80 around its midsection. We wired a 9 volt battery detonator type of thingy to the m80. Let that little armored bastardito run out there about thirty yards and slapped the old wire down onto the 9 volt. capooie. armii all over the place. Of course that was before we knew all of the diseases that they can carry. songdog

Songdog, You jerk! That was mean! Sigh. Sorry, Song. I just like armadillos. Blow up all the pigeons you want though I love 22's. Nothing beats a 22 when it comes to bang for buck. Sure, big bores kick a 22 in the butt anyday, but you can't beat 500 rounds for 5 bucks. Heck, Pellets aren't that cheap! For the cost of lunch you can shoot all day!I think the idea of a semi auto .177 is kinda neat. i always hatred having to pump mine between shots.[This message has been edited by niklasal (edited 03-10-2002).]

IS Niklasal really PETALIVES in disguise? In all truth, i did not mind them either until I lost a few cows from them stepping in those damned armii holes and broke a leg. One of them was one of our black angs bulls. If you know anything bout cattle, Black Angus bulls are not cheap. $2k a piece once they are prime, if you know what i mean.songdog

niklasal- Haveyou ever "ACCIDENTALLY" dropped a box of instant rice on the ground. Then all the pigeons at the rice before you had time to pick it up. I hate it when that happens. The same happens when you "accidentally" drop an opened package of alka-seltzer.songdog

What is the .17 Aguila? The concept looks slick but what are you goin to get out of that 5 or 6' barrel ? About 1500fps with a load of muzzle blast is my guess.A longer barrel may turn out to make more sense.

SONG, never tried the alkaseltzer, I'll keep it in mind. I'm kinda weird when it comes to killing animals. For some reason I'm okay with shooting them, but not blowing em up.Until a few weeks ago I never thought I could shoot an animal unless i had to. Then my buddy bought a farm overrun by chickens... I bought a 10/22 that day, ou can imagine the restHmmmm... next topic for discussion me thinks...

I want to meet the guy and take lessons to learn to shoot squirrels and rabbits at 200yrds. most of the squirrels i find are in the woods and i have a hard time finding an opening to shoot them at 25yrds. unless its straight up in a very tall tree. most of the rabbits i find are in very heavy cover usually briars and you are lucky to get a shot off with a shotgun before they disapear. what woul 2550 fps do to those animals if you hit them anywhere other than the head???? sounds like a taget rifle only to me not somthing to hunt with. sidearm sounds like fun to shoot but cant see it as a hunting tool. just my 2cent worth. I know that out in trhe western part of this state, you can find a good farmer here and there that will gladly accept your company to come to one of his wheat fields. It is at these fields that you can find those large jacks early in the morning. You just wait for those enormous ears to pop up then put the sights on him and squeeze er off. nothin but a poof of hair.songdog
