I saw these advertised on, of all plcaes, Facebook. Forgetting for a minute about what most you y'alls opinion is of FB, can you believe anyone would sell these, let alone wear one????

Not me!!

what's the big deal if someone wants a badge? I'm not going to wear it, but it might be fun to whip it out with my CCW permit! [:D][:D]
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

If I'm ever in a shooting and the cops are coming, the last thing I'm gonna do is whip it out.[:D]

My guess is it would not help the cause. I think wearing one would make you look foolish. I think it would give you roughly the same amount of respect afforded a mall cop...

You may think I am overstating this, but the cause of the Second Amendment. Seriously.

With some people, we have a credibility problem. No sense giving them more, uh, ammo for their arsenal... :)

how does a decorative badge create a credibility problem? I guess I don't see that at all.

I carry one on a chain around my neck because I'm deep deep undercover.

Remember the first impression is the one that sticks with strangers, don't just walk into room , do a running shoulder roll.

If you're going for "cred" with that badge, all that's coming across is "lame."

you want a badge, be a cop. I'd bet the guys who would wear this sort of badge for cred would wear jackboots if they became a real cop.

It's kind of like the guys who have thousands of dollars worth of military gear and imitation military gear and play games with airsoft guns, because they never joined the military or fired a real gun (not talking about those who use airsoft for actual formal force-on-force training.)

Keep in mind, I'm just playing devil's advocate here. It's not that I think they would create any sense of credibility... it's a decoration... I'm just saying I don't see how it hurts it. That is all.

It is the idea that you want to give the impression of being some sort of authority. The idea that you WANT people to notice you.

It is legal here in Indiana, from what I gather, to open carry. I am not of the mind to do so. Removes the element of surprise, for one thing, and beyond that , I just don't want people to know that I am carrying.

No sense hanging a badge on my shirt advertising to one and all.

And, I still think people would look on that badge with derision. People associate badges with police, etc, and to try to make myself look important makes me less credible.

Leslie Nielsen, God rest his soul, perfected the running shoulder roll entrance in the Naked Gun movie, although I suspect it was his stunt double executing the maneuver.

Other than asking the cop how many donuts he's had so far today, I can't think of a better way to annoy a peace officer than to whip out a badge for your CCW like it meant something.

The CCW license, proof of insurance, and your driver's license should do just fine.

I don't like the idea that I have to get PERMISSION from the gub'mint to exercise a RIGHT....but I did, and I have a piece of paper that says I can carry concealed in the Commonwealth of PA.

Carrying a badge to say "Hey! I got a piece of paper that say it's O-TAY by the Gub'mint for me to have me a hidden gun!" is just plain Paul Blartish.

I still have a couple real badges, if I wanted to wear a badge I'd wear them. I don't wear them anymore because I got sick and tired of the BS politics. I wouldn't want a fake badge, I just don't see any good that can come of it.

these are handy, b/c if someone flashes it, you know they are a tool
They are handy for cops, b/c it makes a really easy "impersonating a LEO" case when the tools use it
