Thieves among our hunters....

Went to our farm today for a little pre-season scouting and to check on tree stands. All our stands are permanent structures. We've made metal steps and had them lag bolted into the trees. One in particular had all the steps removed by someone who thought they needed them bad enough to steal 'em. This happened a few years ago and we deformed and hammered the lag bolt heads to prevent theft. This was the only stand we hadn't done that to.....would love to set up a motion detection camera to catch them in the act, but they would probably steal it too.

I had a hunting club near my home for a while and had the same problem. Some people will steal anything! I finally stoped hunting there and started hunting so far back in the mountains the crows get lost when they fly over. I haven't had any thing else stolen sence.

Damn!! That is really just sad! They stole the damn steps? Makes you ashamed to be a member of the human race sometimes. You would think that at least among hunters, there would be SOME honor! Maybe that was it. Maybe it was one of those animal rights dimwits, and they went home thinking "Well, that's one evil hunter who won't slaughter any Bambis from THAT stand!"
I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.--Voltare
