Think I found me a scooter

49cc mini chopper on CL for $450. My boss recently sold one just like it for $600. Think I'll get it. Gives me the fun of a motorcycle, without having to do all the red tape. And, since most of my driving is around town, I figure I'd keep up with traffic pretty nicely. Also, 90mpg looks good when gas is gonna be $4 and up a gallon. I figure if I got it for $400 (lets say I do jew him down a bit) and get me a $150 helmet, that's $550. I figure I'll have saved the cost of it all in 18 weeks. I ain't posting the link (cause it won't show up) but I like the paint job too. There will be pics if I get it.

Be like ridin a lawn mower down the street? I've ridden a few of the little 50cc dirtbikes and a few other bikes and that's about it. Like I said, it's main purpose is to save me gas (and give me a new little toy for cruisin around town). Then again, i'll look like a monkey bangin a football on that thing.

To hell with the minibike, do like a buddy of mine did. Find an older riding lawnmower, and replace that gutless old Tecumseh engine with a Honda streetbike engine.[:D][:D][;)][:0]

Some of them 50ccs do pretty good IMHO. Guy who used to rent a bay from the shop had a 50cc scooter and he'd get going pretty good. He'd fly around on that little sucker. I took it out once (to go get some parts, he let me borrow it since we couldn't get any of the cars out) and that sucker did good. Held it's speed up some pretty steep hills.

Use caution when buying an off the wall Chinese made scooter. Tons of those $400 - $500 things are laying around yards here. Everything from "Choppers" to "sport" bikes.

Problem is no one has parts for them and you spend more pushing the things home than you do riding them.

I highly advise you to find something like a Vespa, Honda, Tomos or Yamaha. At least You can get parts for those.

Not sure which make this one is. There is one like it on CL, looks exactly like it (minus paint) that is a yamaha.

I'd look for a dual sport or Ruckus over that thing. At least with a Ruckus it's a Honda.

Before I would buy one of those I would get me a good horse and ride to work. To feed him just let him mow your yard and fertilize it at the same time. You want have part to fix either.

I'd buy that one if it was cheap. A can or two of rustoleum would fix it right up.

Most of those minis around here don't have a title and are not street legal.

Maybe it's different in your state.

We would need tags and proof of insurance.

Buy it anything is better than walking. My youngest brother lost his license and got a moped. After doing some work on it he could do 40mph and he weighed over 300 pounds.
