Has anyone heard the American Muslim population say publicly, and unanimously, that they are Americans and with us 100%- not with the terrorists?I need to hear that to feel good.Being of Italian descent, my grandparents and parents were on the "wrong side" of the WW2. But Italians (and german-Americans, and japanese-Americans in the 442nd- I believe) fought valiantly. My grandparents believed they were Americans, and made it so. As a result, no one in the family is left who speaks Italian. We are "with the USA 100%"So how about our contemporary "Italians"? i.e the Arab-Americans who live here?Furthermore, our peace-and-blame-America-first-crowd seems so much more sympathetic to Afghan civillians than they were when our government kills AMERICAN civillians without due process: Ruby Ridge, Waco, and my favorite: that guy recently in CA who the BURNED TO DEATH without calling the fire department. Am i to believe that because i am an American citizen, my life is worth less than an Afghani civillian?Things i have been pondering...

Speaking of that, one day it was big news on Fox then nothing. Did they find his body? What was his crime to deserve that? Killing of a LEO?

This bit about "standing down" during Ramadan is a HOAX! It is media spin on behalf of the left-wing peacenick crowd to paint the Afghans and the Taliban as victims. First they started referring to the Taliban as "religious leaders". My goodness! These idiots are heavily funded by the drug trade. I know that Islam does not support that. Now the libs are trying to say that we shouldn't bomb them on their religious holidays? Not only did those morons select a time when our economy was weak to hit the pillars of our economic structure with flying bombs filled with human lives, but the Muslims have been fighting throughout history on their religious holidays even all the way back to Muhammed.

I believe we should respect their religious holidays in exactly the same manner they have demonstrated respect for those of other religions. Now what was name given that minor altercation in the Middle East the fall of 1973?

The only time to stand down is when we get out of our tanks using their fried skulls as step tiers or when the enemy is crushed and reduced to nothing!Ramadan is a holiday? Sorry I don't believe in fairy tales [read Islam]

If I recall my History correctly, Hitler began the Arden offensive around Christmas 1944, no thought about the religious consequences to the allied forces. Similar attack by the Chinese in Korea. Wasn't the TET Offensive during Vietnam also during Christmas? Those who call for a cease fire at this time obviously are more concerned about hurting someones feeling than winning.....we should continue till the job is finished.

The Tet Offensive kicked off in January of 1968. I think it was late January. I just read about it on the Military Police history homepage. It wasn't a traditional Judeo-Christian holiday like Christmas or Easter.

I think we should celebrate Ramadan by doubling our bombing efforts. Nothing warms the heart like the glow of a few thousand pounders in this time of holiday cheer.

Having worked with Arabs during Ramadan I can tell you that they get flat out ornery during the middle of the day since they can't eat until well after sunset. We really can't expect much cooperation from our Arab allies during that month since they too are fasting. As long as we are not expecting much cooperation from our allies I'd say go ahead and bomb.....but don't expect the Arab good guys to provide much assistance. Beach

As a side thought we have been bombing continuously for four weeks now. I'd say it's a good time to do some maintenance on the planes and rest for the air crews in the guise of Christian charity and respect for the rag head religion. Beach

Good points all. Interesting to note is the Allies practice of not bombing mosques and other religious sites, a very noble thing on our part. The Taliban has responded by parking its tanks and heavy weapons inside and all around the mosques. I say that if you don't respect your own religion and its buildings, why should someone else? Playing fair and being noble is great, but it only works if both sides play by the rules. I say bomb away.

Iconoclast: The name of the war in Oct 1973 is the "October War." If you subscribe to the Jewish point of view, then it's the "Yom Kippur War."
It's not what you know that gets you in trouble, it's what you know that just ain't so!

So is the way of Fanatics. They act, then hide behind the name of religion. A real leader is visible to the people, leading by example. Throughout christianity the great leaders have stood in the face the enemy and beside their people. Which is the greater God, one which protects a leader as he stands before his foe or the one that allows his leaders to hide behind the followers.

Nothing I hate more than mixing war with religion... Bomb they first and let GOD decide if is right or wrong: Toss a $100 bill in the airif we are wrong GOD will keep it ,if we are right it will fall to us again !
I judge Thee!, Not for what you are , but for what you say !

I think history would show us that they fight other muslims during their holidays. I hate war, but we have no choice. We probably need to keep up the bombing until the job is done.

Good people if we had been in a war it would have been over by now. please remember before you go off half cocked that I am old enoughto remember the last war America took part in and as a boy of 11 tried to enlist in. If anyone thinks that in at least 5 to 7 days we could took our technology and wiped out all tho a#$&*%es riding donkeys then he has absolutely no comprehension of our might as a Superpower. What do we say to the survivors of the victims of the towers and New Yorks Police and Firemen who rushed Headlong into almost certain death to help anyone they could to survive the horrible attack on innocent civilians. Shall we say we are going to convert the ragheads an not punish them to the highest degree. For Shame.
