I have a M17s Bushmaster BullPup Pre ban. 28 inches over all with a flash supressor. I am thinking about selling it for an Armalite Realtree AR 15 Post ban. Any thoughts on the subject?

Heard some disturbing things about Armalite...seems a fellow bought 6 new Military M1A mags @ $60 each and sent them in to be modified for his new Armalite 308....they sent him back a bunch of old beat up ones in exchange....when he complained they just brushed him off and told him it wasn't their problem...doesn't sound like a company I'd want to do business with....

My fellow Iowan Rembrandt has far different information about ArmaLite than I. I wonder if Rembrandt has the "whole story." The reason I question the story is because ArmaLite now has newly-manufactured 20-round magazine bodies and no conversions are done to customer magazine bodies. While ArmaLite may still accept M-14 magazines in trade (in order to get the other necessary pre-ban parts to use to convert the new bodies to legal 20-round onverted magazines), they would not return anything but newly-manuufactured bodies with the converted magazines. When the AR-10 first came out, ArmaLite did do trades of two M-14 magazines for one converted AR-10 magazine. (The actual M-14 magazine body was modified to work in the AR-10.) At first, you got back the very same magazine bodies you sent in, but that was so much headache keeping track of the exact customer magazines sent in, ArmaLite switched to a "pool" arrangement, where you sent in two M-14 magazines and got one converted AR-10 magazine back out of the "pool" of previously magazines. You did not get back your original magazines. The exchange program had specified standards for the magazines that would be accepted for trade. "Beat up" magazines were not accepted. While it is possible this guy got some bad stuff back, when the covnersion was done on original M-14 bodies, the bodies were refinished so they looked new. I do not know if small body dents were ignored, which would not hurt functioning, and maybe that is what Rembrandt's acquaintance experienced to make him feel he got "old beat up ones" back, although I do not see how the refinished, converted magazines, even with minor body dents, could be so classified. If the guy was unhappy, he should have pursued it further. I have never been "brushed off" by ArmaLite, but I am sure it has happened to someone sometime. (I am still mad at them for not shipping the pre-ban carbines I had on order for nine months before the ban, because they were "unavailable," and then shortly after the ban, they suddently became available for twice the price. However, I understand capitalism and that may have been a good example of maximizing profit.)I have found ArmaLite to be a great company with very high quality products and great customer service. The biggest problem is getting them. Most ArmaLite products are in perpetual back-order status. I would not let this magazine story keep me from buying an ArmaLite if that is what is desired.

Judge,Got the story from a gun dealer in Pekin, Illinois...told me this is what happened to one of his customers. Don't know much more than what I posted...there could be more to it than what he told me....sometimes bad news travels faster than good news and things get added or deleted.....thanks for the information....once again your knowledge is greatly appreciated.
