Anyone have an idea what type of spider this is? We found a couple of them outside our front door. One was twice the size of this one.

A father watched his daughter playing in the garden. He smiled as he reflected on how sweet and innocent his little girl was. Suddenly she just stopped and stared at the ground. He went over to her and noticed she was looking at 2 spiders mating. "Daddy, what are those 2 spiders doing?" she asked. "They're mating," her father replied. "what do you call the spider on top, 'DADDY'?" she asked. "That's a DADDY LONGLEGS," her father answered. "So, the other one is a 'MOMMY LONGLEGS'?" she asked. "No, both of them are DADDY LONGLEGS" I said. The little girl thought for a moment, then smashed them both flat with her foot. "THAT MIGHT BE OK IN MASSACHUSETTS, BUT WE'RE NOT HAVING ANY OF THAT snot HERE IN TEXAS"

AND THANK YOU ALL FOR THE VERY NICE BIRTHDAY WISH IT WAS GREATLY APPRECIATED IT'S ALL DOWNHILL FROM HERE HAHAHAHA

In the last 2-3 weeks, we've killed 1-2 spiders a day in the house. Have no idea what started this invasion---colder weather/rain. All look about the same---dark brown/black and about the size of a nickel or quarter. Got to spray the garage and around the outside of entrance doors with malathion. Maybe that will help. Wife is terrified of spiders and I'm not real fond of them either.
