As a Benelli fan this may be in your favor, because Benelli is now in the marts, they are being sold for less than normal retail prices, it won't be long in my opinion that they will be in even more marts,I as a dealer try to offer quality guns and merchandise at fair and reasonable prices, this allows me to make a profit and thus a living so that I can exist as a storefront dealer who will offer service and services that are not found in the marts, but when every manufacture starts putting there stuff in the marts, who cut prices to the point that it's not worth the investment to carry their products, because you can't make a fair profit. In turn they take more profits away from us dealers and that is why we are a dieing breed.

I truly understand your concern as I love to go to local shops and "talk shop". I called a friend at a local shop he says his rep had called him, and that the marts are going to start carrying stoger not the Benelli line. I will not purchase a Benelli from a mart on principle alone. I do however get them for 20-50 over dealer cost as he is a friend and the amount of business I do with him. He also state that they took away dealership privs from the largest in our state because they were "wholesaling" them to a local mart. I'm not sure as to the truth on this however. Hope it works out, because as you know once all the compition is gone they have us!

Your right about the Stoeger thing, the mart in question, had an account with Stoeger prior to Benelli buying Stoeger out, so now when the price lists come out, you get them all, Stoeger,Benelli, and Franchi, one account with any of those companies gets you into all 3!So now instead of using Stoeger guns as loss leaders to get people in the door, they are using Benelli. my * is they have one gun in stock in each store, where I have a considerable investment made showing the entire line,at least when it's available.

yep, It's hard for the honest small gun shop to keep the doors open when the marts sell below cost. Lets hope the keep the stoger and maybe the franchi but leave Benelli's to dealers only. Everyone when was the last time you were in wally world and had a decent conversation with the kid behind the counter? Usually their smart a$$es and to top it off they don't have a clue as to what their selling.

That would be great if they only sold the Stoeger line, but I'm here to tell you that they have Benelli's.

This is quite alarming... I have waited almost ten years before convincing myself to buy a Benelli(because its a Benelli and not something you would find in the "marts") and now this! Maybe a few years from now theyll get to carry Armalite too.........hell, what s next?-smooth

Tough to keep those out of walmart. Some would rather save 50 cents a box of ammo then save the local gunshop. Not me but alot do and as long as that goes on gunshops will suffer.
