Anyone have one, and if so, what do you think of it? LGS has a glock (forgot the model)with an extra barrel, 500 rounds of ammo, and about 1,000 pieces of brass and dies for $429. Thinking it might be a fun plinker.

My PD had the GAP for a period of time. I really liked the G37. I liked the 9/40 frame size with the larger .45 caliber. It is a fun gun to shoot with a nicer recoil than .40. The ammo is pricey.

We had one gun that kaboomed. The ammo manufacturer took responsibility for the KB because their brass was improperly sized, which led to an over pressure. As a result the ammo manufacturer and Glock replaced all our GAP guns with Glock 21SFs and we moved to .45 ACP. There was alot of back story that went into that, but we had an opportunity to get new guns and trade otu all our ammo for the expense of new holsters so we took it.

    OK :

Just ask any real 'glock' person : They will tell you to stay far away from this goof-ball obsolete (chevy vega) caliber !!!!!!

    Thanks !!!

ten boxes of ammo,,hmm, that's a good price for as odd gun. Yes, I HAD one, but unless you want to keep it don't buy BUT that seems pretty good with 10 boxes ammo.

I can't say that I have ever wanted a gun in that chambering, but I'm sure that in the world of firearms it has its place. From what I can tell the applications are somewhat limited, so it will never be particularly popular.

    I know this:
    - I don't want to be shot by a 45GAP
    - There will likely never be a large enough body of evidence to determine its worth as a man stopper.
    - Odds are good that there is a particular niche that this lil gem fills that is not filled by anything else, but what that niche is may never be discovered.
    - Ammo will likely always be more expensive and less available than other chamberings.
    - Like with most things, there is value in diversity.

    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

I think that be the wrong caliber for a plinker. anybody who wants a .45GAP should be thrilled with that deal though

There are quite a few LE Agencies across this country that have bought them, and still carry them. Several of the State Police Agencies including NY, PA and GA bought the GAPs. So it is not like they didn't sell any, just not the 100,000s that they were hoping for. Glock cut their own throat by releasing the 21SF. Part of the issue for the G21 was it was large, and uncomfortable for folks with medium to smaller grips. The GAP bridged that by having a .45 in a standard Glock frame. Once they released the Glock 21SF with a smaller grip, shorter LOP there was no selling point for the GAP.

I still have a couple cases of GAP in both white box and Ranger SXT sitting in my ammo room at work.

New price for the ammo would be in the area about $300, I don't know what model it is, it might be worth checking to see if you can have it converted over to a 45 ACP. And then sell the Ammo to pay for the conversion

The grip is not large enough to accommodate .45 ACP....that is why the GAP was invented, it is shorter so it would fit in a standard frame magwell.

he could likely convert it to 9mm,.40 or .357 sig.

Unless you are someone that shoots a lot, that seems like a good deal to me. I'd likely not shoot up that 500 rounds of GAP with all the other guns/calibers I own.

If you reload I am pretty sort of maybe sure you can use 45ACP dies just a slight adjustment to the shorter case. Same bullets, same powder, SP primers.

If the deal is good enough it might be a buy
