What are the chances BNSF is still looking to buy CSX?

I know they were talking about merger when Canadian Pacific was looking at buying Norfolk Southern. What are the chances they never quit talking to each other?

I think it could still happen....With Trumps new energy prop, we will need heavy haulers...and trains still move a lot of freight.

it would make sense, if this pipeline deal is stopped. BNSF would be hauling the oil to refinery, the cars are stacked on every spur in eastern Montana and western ND. with so many coal trains BNSF is using hauling coal to the Pacific ports i would think a lot of CSX engines would be used.

I think Canadian Pacific wants it all.

The pipe line will be completed for they only like about 40 miles to go to tie in.. If you look at the maps and all it does not cross any Standing Rock land and is in fact approx 2 miles Northeast from it and following the same route as an existing NG pipe line.

CSX has did a lot of people dirty here lately. I know three engineers that got laid off and after about two months was offered a full time job if they agreed to move to FL.. All three went to FL only to be ask what they were doing there and sent home. One actually sold his house to to pay for the move.

I don't know if BNSF is interested in buying anyone out.
But they DO want to haul freight; especially in full unit trains.
And yeah, there are a lot of stored oil cans scattered around Eastern Washington too.

Given the expedience the railroad operates at I expect we will know in 5 or 10 years. If you think our government is bureaucratic you have never worked with the railroad.
