Hoping to get some information on .22 caliber hunting pistols. Has to be single action-my state does not allow any type of semi auto for hunting.I know Ruger makes something, but do not know what it is called. Prices and makers information would be appreciated.

Ruger makes the Bearcat and the Single Six. I've popped a few squirrels with my Single Six. Blued, New, with both 22 and 22 Mag cylinders, in a 5.5" barrel, it was $265. I believe the Bearcat is less expensive, but not positive.

ruger, s&w, taurus, get one with adjustable sights. single or double action are not semi-auto.[This message has been edited by fergusonmorse392 (edited 03-16-2002).]

I have the 5.5 barrel Single-Six myself. Have kilt many a squirrel, and a few bunnies who decided to sit still. My wife has a Bearcat, I'd say I kilt something with it, but she's pretty protective of it, but it sure is a sweet little gun! And, believe it or not, one of the best handgun rounds for squirrels is a .38 spl. You're going for a shot in the head, aren't you? I know a guy who gets more squirrels with his old Colt Trooper than I get with a shotgun. He's just a damn good shot!

Hey! Just get a Thompson Contender. That way when you get through with the squirrels change barrel to 410 and go after rabbits or birds, change barrel to .223 and go for the ground hogs, change barrel to .44, 30-30, etc and go for deer. Change to 45-70 and go to the Doctor for wrist brace.Gotta love the diversity.
