Sounds like fun I could start a road trip down through Texas and across the gulf states and harvest the tails as I go. Wonder if my .460 Wtby will handle them

The Mobile, AL jaycees usta have a nutria rodeo once a year. Folks would hunt 'em in the Mobile Delta areas. They gave out prizes for the most, the biggest, the longest tail, etc. Mostly done for fun. They stopped holdin' it. I heard one of the animal groups got on their case about it. Don't know it for sure but sounds like somethin' one of those groups would do.Oh yea, the jaycees would also cook some BBQ style. I heard done just right it taste a lot like cat.[This message has been edited by Pelican (edited 04-02-2002).]
7MM NUT, I guess that I will have to tow the utility trailer so we both have room for our "supplies". LOL. hell, maybe I'll bring the bench and the rests, drill a couple holes on one side of the bench and mount the loaders and we are in bidness. I like the grant money idea form the guvmint. We will, AFTER ALL, be providing a service to the states affected, bet we could get ammo free with the right amount of "harvest" to prove our worth. Worth a look into.
I was waiting for the sun to come up while deer hunting the McKay Island WMA in Knotts Island NC sitting on a downed tree with my legs in the swamp over looking a known crossing when in total darkness a 20+ lb nutria decided to use the same downed tree as the shortest distance between points A and B, runnung right over the top of my legs, It scared the crap out of me as well as the nutria, they look like a beaver with a rat tail and orange teeth,we shoot them all the time down Knotts Island way...
Used to work nights so I slept during the day. I had a trask can beside the bed and 1 day I was asleep and something woke me up. I laid there listening and heard a rustleing noise and a thump. I tilted my head over and just caught a glimpse of something pop over the edge of the trash can. So with out thinking I rolled over and leaned the can towards me and a rat that was caught in the can ran up the side and up my arm and across my body and off the side of the bed. It scared the snot out of me and I can;t stand the little critters anymore.

My kids have pet rats, they are the domestic fancy type, they are the most friendly, intellegent rodents I have ever had experience with, I would recomend them instead of gerbils or hamsters, these rats love human companionship kind of like little dogs, even my two year old carries one around sometimes without even a nip.
Miss.Creant:Are ya sayin` I got a chance of winnin` ya back? Maybe I could sweetin` the pot with some of them soiled red garters. VAL/DOC
Did sombody say somethin` about bees?
"JUST C" I am about 2 hours from Salisbury MD. It would be fun giving a few Nutria an extra breathing hole!!! I think that now you don't even need a hunting license to kill these damnable rats. I'm in if we can get a few guys together in Maryland!!!! RG
