So glad to hear from other Robert Johnson fans. I have some dirt from his gravesite and some from the crossroads (highways 61 and 49)in little bottles on top of my A/V system. Does that qualify me as a fan or a nut-case? I personally think it works better than thick voo-doo speaker wires. What do you think? By the way,you need to buy "Hellhounds On My Trail" on DVD.It is part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Music Masters series.Numerous great artists doing his songs. I want to marry Rory Block and sit around all day while she plays the blues!! Well, one can dream, can't one?

Right place!!! I am responding to the music thread "who would you have perform for you" several posters admired Robert Johnson..the greatist blues song writer who ever lived!! Those people would agree. Maybe you need to listen to him yourself and learn what they and I know.

Its so very sad that on one had heard of Robert Johnson. The Blues is a really obscure object in the minds of most so -called music people. However SRV makes it all a mute point. Granted his inspirations were the ultimate blues giants of their era, he really takes their element of the blues and rips a new......excuse me makes a well needed space(so to speak) in the realm of that art. and as far as I'm concerned SRV is the last real Blues musician to make a real contribution to the art to this date.

True, true hans...SRV was finally hitting his stride after getting clean and sober..shame about that...however,other great artists are keeping the flame alive.Have you ever heard Rory Block? She is a multible W.C. Handy award winning blues artist.Buddy Guy's latest "Sweet Tea" should win him the grammy he deserves. The list goes on and on...Look for new artists on the Blind Pig and Alligator labels...be worth your while I think.

Booger...I think the artist who was supposed to be R.J. in that movie was Guy Davis...he is one of the many talented people on the DVD "Hellhounds On My Trail"...really good to my ears!

SRV ain't the only guy, as great as he was. BB King is still around, Buddy Guy, Freddie King, Albert King, Robert Cray, John Lee Hooker just passed away a few months back...lotsa guys are still playing da blues (But Kenny Wayne Shepard is a poser). There's a radio show called "House of Blues" which I get up north at my hunting shack, hosted by "Elwood Blues" (Dan Aykroyd). He plays some great stuff!!!! Old and new!Dirt from RJ's grave?? Better watch those stones in your passway, bro, you might be haunted!!!

Hey beast, you're not saying Albert and Freddie King are still alive, are you? Those guys have been dead for a good while.I didn't join in the music discussion, but wish that I had. I'm a huge blues fan and have read a lot about Robert Johnson. All those old Delta players from the twenties and thirties were the real deal. Johnson, Son House, Mississippi John Hurt, etc.Just went to see Buddy Guy last Wednesday night. The show wasn't very good. Very little music and too much B.S. and story-telling. It was like a stand-up comedy routine with a little bit of guitar playing thrown in. Guy's band was damn good, though.

SSGT Roberts....don't feel bad. I thought this guy Johnson might be some famous NASCAR driver who wrapped himself around a telephone pole driving moonshine! Turns out he's someone else entirely....amazing the stuff you learn on this forum. Beach
