Barrel Cleaning

Have you ever noticed that after giving a good cleaning the the bore that the gun don't shoot the same? I gave my .22 a good scrubbing today, took it out to the range to see the difference and did I ever get a shock, it went from a 1 hole gun @ 50 yds to a 3" group @ 50! After I shot 100 rounds out of it I got it back to a little less than 1" but now it won't cut holes anymore. Last time I clean a gun bore unless it gets dirt in it!

as most of you know.. I am single again... and had to sell my M44.. however, the ex left her M44.
What I did not know is that she never cleaned it after the last time she shot it.. and now.. the barrel is NOT in top condition. I can see rust on the muzzle crown and am almost afraid to look down the bore. Any ideas on how to clean this out and protect it from further harm BEFORE it gets worse?????
conflicting info on removing ALL copper from a barrel (rifle). do we really need to remove all copper fouling from a rifle barrel? what is the bad side of leaving some copper in the barrel? via a chronograph bullet speed, in my rifles, fall off as the barrel fouls. have noticed several shots are needed to get the rifles to start shooting good groups again. what do you all think? thanks.

Once sighted in before deer season, the only thing, other than bullets, that goes down the barrel is a dry patch until season is over.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.
Saxon Pig is right to a certain point with centerfire rifles. If you "break them" in correctly they will be a more accurate. Beach
