OK guys I've got a new one for me. I'm not sure of the problem but at this point I'll take any suggestion on board from all of you. I was out shooting my .22-250 Ruger Number 1V. Got four shots in nice and tight on paper and the fifth and sixth shots were way out. Cleaned the rifle and it did it again. At first I thought it was old me just getting too tired. I was using factory ammo with a 45 grain bullet so I don't think it was crappy powder yakking up the barrel. Shot my M-14 with no difficulties(I think but am not sure but I think that eliminated me as a cause). Frankly I'll look at anything anyone has to suggest. Thanks, Beach.

Beach, as you know, it is very difficult to diagnose a problem like this electronicly. Send me the rifle and I will work on it for the next year or two and then tell you what the problem is.

No,No,No,No.If you want to destress(or stress,I forget) a rifle barrel, bake it in the oven ,at 500 degrees for 3 hours, then drop it in a full tub of luke warm water. You won`t even have to break it in.
Will the last reb to leave flarda, please bring the flag?[This message has been edited by 218Beekeep (edited 09-13-2001).]

pushrod...Don't think I need to destress the steel in a nitrogen bath. Freezer won't even get close to the cold needed to destress. But thanks for the input. Beach

I believe the varmint hunter has it this time. I had a similar situation and his fix worked. If it doesn't try talking to your barrel. The overnight freezing method is too abrupt, your barrel may become introverted and then require prozac. I think you should get a book, research the teachings of Dr Spock and try to build a relationship with your barrel.....................ZZZZZZZZZZZzz

Never thought I would see the day Ghotie went all sensitive on us. God, I love it! I haven't a clue beachie, but the fore end problem sounds likely. Best of luck with it!

You are supposed to take a deep breath, let it out, take another, let half of it out, hold and squeeze. You do this each shot. You must quit taking a deep breath, letting half out and firing six shots!

You guys you know during this incredibly hard week some of you have really made me smile. Thank you very much. I don't mind being the butt of a joke this week if it can bring a smile to a few faces. Shootist wants to steal my gun, Rosie wants me to go into respiratory arrest, ghotie wants me to sing Kumbaya, Select Fire want me to make a pass at it.....God what a group you guys are. But thank you because this week I certainly needed a smile....and for those who really helped me out with the problem thank you too. I will get in touch to ask how to accomplish the solution. Beach
