Took a BIG step yesterday

Actually it was just a normal step, but it was the first step that I have taken unassisted since the accident where I fractured my hip on July 4th. It was my 3rd PT session since I was released to start putting weight on the joint. A little scary at first but once I got going I was able to walk several feet on my own. The muscles are very stiff and there is pain associated with it but it felt real good to be doing it on my own. I have gone from using a walker for 6 weeks to crutches for 2 weeks and now I'm using a single crutch. The plan is that by the time I return to the doctor on 9/13 I will be weened from all assist devices. Still not able to return to work yet but I'm hopeful that I will be released for work on the 13th. Thanks to everyone for their well wishes and prayers. Not there yet but getting close.

Glad you're healing! It's good that you've set goals for yourself. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Congratulations! Working hard at rehab is important, resting is also important. Of course, you won't be lazy, but DO NOT OVER DO IT! Be patient with yourself. The two things I see often enough is 1) Someone won't do enough because it hurts and 2) someone pushing them selves to hard and damaging themselves or exhausting themselves, or both, which stops their rehab cold until they recover again.

Work hard, but be patient and be reasonable. Congratulation on your progression to return to the ranks of the bipods.

Having to learn to walk again is a bigger step than it was back when you were an infant! I know this from experience!
