Idea for Public Area Protection System

Methinks this will come to be:
A lethal weapon controlled via computer network that can engage an active shooter. Maybe choice of shotgun and 22 high-powered projectile. Possibly a non-lethal device.
Install where large crowds gather such as festivals, airports, concerts, clubs.
Central monitor.
Or it could be local. Mobile. Protected enclosure for security guard but have ability for him to direct the fire.

Needs not to be subject to Obama-type hiring rules so that equal opportunity terrorist wannabes can not get hired to protect people.
Did you notice the first thing the Istanbul guy did was "Cap" the security officer at the club door?

And you think you have a problem with hackers now? HAH!
Ta raw! No perps to try and jail. Peace reigns.
The computer controller would have to discriminate between the would-be victims and the "alleged" perp. When it takes action against said perp, its' projectile/beam/spray would need to miss the throng of people, and not over penetrate into a bystander(s).
What about hostage situations? Would it nail everybody in the room, or selectively target only the guy behind the blonde?
I think we're a long way off from this currently.
