And I'm as wide eyed awake as a Hoot Owl. I never had problems sleeping before but since I retired last year my sleeping habits have went haywire. What the heck is going on[?] My wife is having the same problems. She decided to hit the hay about half an hour ago but she'll probably be back up in a little while sitting up with me until about 6:00 AM until we finally crash.

I was up at 0310. I get up this time just about every day, but I go to bed at 1900. [:D] I typically work 0530-1330. Even on Sat and Sun I have to get up, put my dogs out and feed them so that we can go back to bed and sleep "late" which is usually 0530. This past week end I actually snoozed until almost 0700, felt like I wasted my day in bed!

Welcome to the night shift. A few of us are up every night, some by choice and some by necessity. [:D]

3:30 AM is when the mousecateria opens to feed us lunch for those that like cafeteria food. I bring my own.

Another nuacteral critter here. Not sure why I gravitated to these hours either. I used to be up at 5:15 am and worked until sunset. Now I don't make any appointments for the morning and have trouble getting up in the afternoon.

Go camping for a week with no electronics Etc reset your internal clock
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

This is a very good idea and it actually works well. My destination of choice is Voyageurs National Park in northern MN. You'll end up going to sleep when the sun goes down and waking with its return in the morning. Better than sleeping pills.

I had the same problem when I retired 18 months ago. It took me about 8 months to get into a new groove. I set up a routine which included a morning work out, devotional time and keep a set of lists of the things I needed to accomplish in a timely fashion and a to do list to make sure I kept track of things for the future.

The main thing I have learned is to make sure I have a reason to get out of bed. The only off days I really have are the ones with no plans for the day. The plans may be anything from a trip to town to just walking the fence around the property with my camera or fishing, shooting etc...

I try to hit the rack about the same each night and I generally sleep like a rock now. I no longer use an alarm clock and wake up almost exactly the same time every morning...

I hope you find your new normal soon....

you haven't gotten enough done during the day, you're not exhausted from work, and your brain doesn't think it's time to go to sleep yet.

In my youth I went to the Big Island for three weeks. No electronics, no TV, no nothing.

Up at dawn, hungry for a change. Big breakfast.
Swim all day. Big dinner. In bed and asleep by 7:30pm. Repeat 20x . . .

I never realized I was amongst such great company during the late night and early morn. [:)]

Maybe we need to come up with a flag and lobby congress and the president for equal rights and some free stuff due to our hardship. I come from a long line of sleep deprived and it's only fair! I demand reparations and I'm going to march in the streets and loot and burn!! But right now I'm sort of sleepy. Maybe tomorrow. [;)]

i m not going to lobby or make any waves ...a white senior citizen retired farmer could get all his SS and medi care revoked especially if they discover i used to ride a motorcycle 30 years ago...

I think last night something weird was going on. I usually go to sleep between 8 or 9. I was up staring at the walls until 3:30 this morning. I had to get out the door by 5 to go open the shop up. Still not tired. I will probably crash in a few hours and have a hard time tomorrow. I thought this heat would have worn me out. It was 97 here today with high humidity, and I was like a 20 year old on steroids today[:D] Love that little blue pill[:D]

My sleep pattern is off also , about the time I retired my wife started snoring like a buzz saw so I started sleeping in another room then just started staying up watching TV me and the five dogs or playing on the computer .
working on getting back the "normal " shift sleep at night [:D]
one advantage most f the 22 ammo I have bought showed up late night / early morning before every one was alert to it [:D]
