At your ripe age

Jerry asked Earl, "At your ripe age, what do you prefer to
get Parkinson's or Alzheimer's?"

The wise one answered, "Definitely Parkinson's.
Better to spill half an ounce of Jack Daniels,
than to forget where you keep the bottle!"

It is not funny at all if you are dealing with a close family member dealing with Parkinson's.....

My sister in law has it and was her that sent me this joke. It's her way to deal with it is to joke about it. By no means I'm taking it lightly

Well, William, what can you expect from someone who'd write "...and was her that sent..." it?
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

Are you sure who sent it to you?
My Grandfather had Parkinson's. Or does she have Dimentia?

No problem, I am cool with you.....just spent the last three days as this family member's POA taking care of taxes, nursing home issues and other crap from other family members involved in the situation...

So I guess I am a little raw and not my usual self....sorry if I started any other issues.....

Sad awful illnesses. For sufferers who can find some humor in it, more power to 'em. Sympathies either way.

I have a younger brother showing episodes of dementia. Long term effect of a stroke 35 years ago.

I lost my mother to dementia long before her body died. I hope that her having dementia never causes me to lose my own sense of humor. Jokes are by nature often irreverent. I am OK with that.

Funny joke, but horrible diseases, both. I lost my mother to Alzheimer's related issues, and although not the root cause of my father's death, he also suffered from severe dementia toward the end. Very sad.
