Forget about the kimber blowing up, I still had an awesome day because I got to spend it with my son.[:)] This was the fathers day we missed out on. We took my new 22 hornet, the M1 Garand and my Remington 700 BDL 22-250. Spent most of the time shooting the M1[8D][8D][8D] We were shooting clay pigeons at 100 yards. Wait, let me rephrase that, My son was hitting them at 100 yards. I was just throwing lead at 100 yards. He hit everyone I put out there in either his first or second shot[}:)][}:)][}:)] I cannot out shoot him anymore. I passed the torch to him today. He is out of my class. We also got my new 77/22 hornet all sighted in with reloads that I made. Oakie.

Looks like ya'll had a good day making empty's.

That is some nice looking wood on the M1, is it a replacement stock?

The good old Hornet........one of my favorite rounds. I have 3 of them a CZ, a BSA Cadet and Win 43. I like the CZ the best, that set trigger is the bomb. The Win 43 was re-chambered to a K-hornet and drilled for rings so it really has no collectors value anymore but its a great shooter.

Glad you and your boy had fun and no one was hurt when the Kimber let go.

Going shooting with my son is the most fun I can think of outside the bedroom!![:D] I'm one up on you as I can still outshoot him. I'm guessing maybe 2 more years before I'll be in your shoes and he will be better than me!

I reload for everything, except my Kimber. I have to go through two cases of factory ammo first, then I will reload for it.

That's a great day indeed Oakie! I get a lot of joy going out shooting with my dad. I know he does as well. I have no kids yet and, but my oldest nephew is just about old enough to where I can start taking him out shooting. I am not sure if he will take to it, but I will do my part in making sure he at least gets the full experience. He can decide from there.

My son can outshoot me too. But only with rifles!

    Oh, and shotguns.

You should be proud to have him following in your steps
Although always described as a cowboy, Roswellnative generally acts as a righter of wrongs or bodyguard of some sort, where he excels thanks to his resourcefulness and incredible gun prowesses.

Looks like a beautiful day doing what you both love.

Passin' the torch, I know that which you speak of.

good for you and Chris . it will be memories that will last his life
the Kimber is a terrible thing to happen glad your Ok . I guess any think can fail and wearing the safety gear is a good reason why

Many years ago I had a semi auto 22 rifle ( made in the Philippine's just a inexpensive rifle ) best I could tell it jammed a bullet about half way thru shooting the bullet wedged part way into the chamber and some how enough force fired the round , it split the case and the extractor and small pieces of brass hit me . I repaired it never did it again but I did sell it several years later . my ears rang for days and the small cuts healed up .
scared the crap out of me
