I got the .40 Super and my AR build out to the range today. Everything went well except for the cheap Wal-Mart "Perfecta" ammo. I am going to call or email about it tomorrow.

Update: Well, I talked to Tulammousa and emailed the pictures of the issue. They are sending me a check and took down the lot number of the ammo. They didn't really offer me any more information than that as of this time, but said they would stay in touch.

    Great pics. Thanks Jon.

So, what happened with the Perfecta ammo?

    Not much neck tension there.

I hand load my AR ammo and don't crimp....I have never had that happen.

Dollar to donuts...those necks were annealed too soft.

    You can't use a pizza oven to anneal brass. {made in Italy}

On the 2 rounds pictured, the bullet shoved down into the case when chambering the round. I examined the rest of the rounds and found the crimp to be very inconsistent.

any day playing at the range is a good one , sucks about the ammo .
is that your first AR build ?
to be honest the 40 super I know little about , just a few words here ad there on here , will have to do searching on it .

I did get the last part for my 1st ar build today the BCG from PSA
it was after dark when I got to put it together , but I had to do it any way loaded up 40 rounds and let her go ( into the ground about 20 to 30 feet in front of me [:I]) in the back yard tonight with my youngest son wasting a few rounds , cycled like a champ at hit the what I was pointing at ( the ground [:D][:D]) , will have to see if I can hit a target now [:I]

"Any day playing at the range is a good one." That sure is the truth!

Glad to hear about your AR build as well. [:)]

You guys have to quit posting that .40 super nonsense.

I still have a few .357s to buy before I expand to something crazy like that, and over 2.5 years until I can buy a gun again.

Glad you caught the .223 before shooting it. That is a pressure situation.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had some cheap Winchester white box ammo like that. I posted pictures and a post about it on here a few years ago. Friggen junk. 22-250 ammo. They made good and sent me some extra boxes though. Glad you caught that[;)] That would have been real bad Jon. Also, I started shooting the Ultra-max re-manufactured 223 ammo, in the bulk packs. That stuff is cheap and excellent ammo. Never a problem. Got it at cabelas. That stuff and American eagle work better then any 223 ammo out of my guns for accuracy and dependability. Give it a try Jon. Oakie

There are still reloaders out there who insist you do not have to crimp for semi autos.
