when you are going to get stiffed by a buyer? I mean I can usually tell from the first email from someone if there is going to be a problem, can't you?

I send a thank you with an informal invoice when I sell something.

I get this after I send initial communication WITH invoice;

"Waiting for invoice and info to make payment. "

then a day or 2 day later this;

"Money Order only? (even though in my ORIGINAL email it has all the payment info)

then I get this a few days later;

"Ok. I'm going to check on the usps mo today and see if it will get to you faster or can be directed to the closer post office for you to pick up. Never used them before."

then, 7-8 days later I send a "what's up" email and get this on;

"Just got my new debit card in the mail. Expired last month. I'll send payment tmw or wed. I'm taking midterms so I'm not sure which day I can get to it. But it'll be at least sent on Wednesday "

so a week later I sent another "what's up email and got this;

"Im about to go do it now. Midterms killed me, lol but I passed with all A's. Say for the delay it's been non stop studying projects and tests.

that was on the 22nd and still a no show. who gets off on this kind of crap? he only has 3 feedbacks and 2 are A's with one F now[;)]

at this point I can just about tell you if someone is going to stiff me by the words they use in their first contact email. how about you?

    Yep, in the first sale right now and NPB lots of excuses, M.O. in the mail Bla Bla Bla. Now it's up to GB and wait to relist, I hope I learn as I go, but just wasted a couple of weeks. The buyer was new signed up just before his first bid (RED FLAG) even went to support and asked about it they said not unusual, so I didn't worry till the first flaky message after the auction was over, then I knew something was wrong.
    I'm not tech savvy so sometimes it is aggravation ya know. Tried on local site and caught on it was a set up, spotted the car load of kids about 20 yards away, drove off with phone in hand the guy I was meeting got away but sheriff caught the car load, but nothing they could do they didn't do anything yet. Thanks for the vent.

    Had this only happen once, where I thought I was getting burned. After numerous emails and phone calls, with all kinds of crazy excuses, I gave up. I decided to keep the gun. About a month later, cash comes in the mail. No check, no money order, CASH. The guys wife really did pass and he sent me the obit[V] He was going through a rough time. I sent the gun, along with a sympathy card and some extras. He turned out to be an honest guy and we are now facebook friends. Oakie

    Yep,, heard ever excuse and then a few more. I mean when your wife just got into an accident, in ICU, and as you are going there, you get a speeding ticket, then you hit someones dog also and THEN, you got laid off the next DAY!
    I bought some guns here while drinking,,ohh myyy, and the next day, M.O. and FFL was in the mail, only way to do business.

    better than buying it then wanting to return it because the wife found out so they had to damage it and claim it was like that when you sold it ( or similar claim about wrong color size shape )
    at least if they do not pay saves a lot of frustration and time
    good luck
