Getting FFLs today

Here's an issue I hope no one will object to my raising. Since the BATF went nuts a few years ago and investigated every FFL holder, I've started to see ads for helpful packets of info assisting people to get FFLs again. Has the wind changed? Does anybody have the low down on how much trouble it is to acquire and possess an FFL now? What are the current fees? You may address stocking and/or non-stocking dealers. Also, what percent of all dealers do you suppose have liability insurance?
