shot 8mm 50 time s in 10 minutesthen one blew thruogh primer is it old ammo or bad gun or ?

    before throwin' the ammo away.......disassemble the bolt & check the tip of your striker (firing pin) for sharp edges/abnormal wear. should be showing a full radius with no deformation.hope dis helpsbest,joey

    I've had primers blow through many times over the thousands of surplus 8mm I've shot (especially Turk). Don't worry about it, the 98 Mauser action is so safe that even complete case failure would be unlikely to cause injury (though I surely wouldn't want to experience it!). What gas comes back through the busted primer isn't a major factor. That being said, it is possible it is the gun; do as the previous post advises.
