I found what seems to be an immaculate condition M1 Garand, in a tanker version, salesman says its unfired, yeah well. The stock is in beautiful condition, cartouches arent strong as some collectors would like, but they are visible, circle P on the grip, as usual. Could have just been hand rubbed an awful lot. All metal is very nice, and all parts are Springfield. It comes with a brand new barrel and op rod to convert it back over to 30-06, its currently in .308. The fella wants 1450.00 for it I believe. Anyone interested in it and let me know, I'll pick it up for you. You could call Gunslingers in Portage Michigan if you are interested, I'd have to get the number for you, but since I am not suppose to probably be posting this post, I'll refrain, seems like the right thing to do. Too bad I just bought that M1A, huh? Well, other than that, everything is going well on vacation here. Bought a Mossberg made Coast to Coast Hardware store .410 shotgun, in like new condition. It wasnt functioning right, but I knew how to fix it, so I told the salesman if he could come down from 189.00 I'd consider it. I got it for 139.00, took it home and fixed it in 5 minutes, saved 50.00 and got it for what it should have been priced at anyway, woo hoo. If it were a real Mossberg it would be worth 245.00 approximately, so I think I did good. Finally got to shoot the M1A yesterday, and wow, that is some real fun, and darn accurate, didnt measure it, but pretty sure its minute of angle or less as a shooter. Trying to get some surplus ammo for it, but missed out on SouthernAmmo.coms sale, now I gotta wait till November probably. Well, just wanted to check in, see ya later.

mcneely77, sorry I didnt get the email in time to meet up with you before all the family booked our days all up. I'd already been to most of the gun stores before I got the email, had to rush and do that before all the family started makeing plans for me, ya know?, but maybe before I leave I'll call ya, we'll see.

BlackRoses, I hope Larry is doing better, I really do, I'm thinking of you in Michigan, and have told some of my family about the situation too. I think they are concerned for you too, and though we arent religious really, and dont really talk about it much, I think some more prayeres are floating your way for a speedy recovery for Larry.

Oh yeah, found out my wife's grandfather has an Eddystone in excellent condition that he bought from Sears catalog back in 1950 for 29.95, which he will never shoot, but he wont sell it to me, darn it. He also has a Remington model 30, but not sure which one it is by looking in the book, it has a schnabel(?) forend, not sure if it was checkered, dont remember, has a peep sight, and drilled and tapped for a base, excellent condition, man, he wont sell it either. Says Remington Express 30 on the receiver ring, built on an Eddystone receiver, so sweet, I'm crying about it.

See ya later, Ryan.

US GI, NEVER MADE A TANKER MODEL, THAT WAS A SALES GIMMIC BY SOME COMPANYS IN THE 60'S & 70'S TO SELL GRANDS THEY COULDN'T GET RIDE OF. THEY CUT OFF BARRELS, OP RODS, STOCKS, ALSO ON THIS MODEL YOU NEED TO TAKE THE ACTION OUT OF THE STOCK & LOOK CLOSE TO CHECK FOR REWELDS, IN THE ACTION AREA, BEWARE!.... SEEN ONE SELL FOR $600 LIKE NEW, AT A GUN SHOW IN SALINE, MI. A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO.. THE REMINGTON 30 EXPRESS, WAS MADE BY REMINGTON AFTER WW1, THEY ARE COMMERCIAL VERSION OF THE 1917 EMFIELD, WITH OUT THE REAR SIGHT EARS, 1921 TO 1940, 30/06,257ROBERTS, 7M/M,25,30,32,35REM. COME WITH 20, 22, 24" BBL.. MANY PARTS USED ARE LEFT OVER MILITARY PRODUCTION PARTS, SOMETIMES WITH A BETTER FINISH. MOST 30/06 IN THIS RIFLE USED A WW1 PRODUCTION BARREL, SHORTENED. OUTSTANDING RIFLE.

Note on the 30: Sounds like a pretty early one, the carbines only had the schnabel a few years then they were replaced with straight forarms and pistol grip stocks. Also, the early ones cocked upon closing the bolt, this was soon modified so that it cocked upon opening of the bolt. Very interesting gun, high up on my want list at the moment.
