Santa Ana, California-AP -- A student group in Southern California has canceled a performance planned for today at an American Red Cross luncheon. That's because the charity told the kids they couldn't sing any songs that used the words "God" or "prayer."Seventh- and eighth-graders from the Orange County High School of the Arts had planned to sing a medley of "America the Beautiful," "Prayer of the Children," and "God Bless the U-S-A."The songs were in honor of the victims and heroes of September Eleventh. But their group director says a Red Cross representative told her the lyrics might offend some of the 400 people expected to attend the event.A Red Cross official says, "We have to be neutral and impartial in all situations."

Anti-Semetic?, No!, Anti-God, Yes!!And also, Anti-American, I dare say.For the sake of all victims everywhere, people who give, ought to be neutral and impartial and bypass the Red Cross, and give directly to the intended recipients, thereby saving the Red Cross the delima of having to make such decisions. By the way 60 minutes, will aire a special about the Red Cross tonight Sunday March 10, 2002, and their handling of the 2000-01 fires in San Diego county. Where it came to lite they kept the majority of money donated to the victims of devastating fires; law suits brought by the victims and the County of San Diego, exposed their fraud and deceptive accountings practices, and even while under court order they refused to give a proper accounting of the moneis they collected. The people of San Diego County, Calif. now have extablished their own victim relief organization, where people can give to help other people of disasters within the county to help, thereby bypassing the Red Cross.[This message has been edited by turbo (edited 03-10-2002).]

I've just been hired as the technical director for a fund raising thank you dinner show for the Red Cross and one of my stipulations was that I heard their side of the story concerning the Orange County incident. Knowing that the media had probably groasly shaped things out of proportion. They said the program in Orange County was too long and one of the undergrads took it upon herself to be PC in her reasoning for which songs to cut. Although she had no decision making athority especially as to the views and practices of the Red Cross. She disturbed the person who called the media who in turn had a field day slinging more mud on dirty laundry. The songs that were to be cut from the Orange County's song list have been in the script I'll be working on since before Christmas and all those envolved including the teacher who notified the media in OC are under serious repremand. The Red Cross told me if you want to review their status on God and Country visit their Web Site. And as far as the San Diego story go's once again people have been blinded by the same media that does such a good job at protecting our constitutional rights and promoting educational gun ownership. I know the Red Cross isn't perfect but they do alot of good and I for one will be proud to produce a show for them.Drawnps Glad the boards back up!!!
