Why in the heck is there access to the cockpit from the general seating area. I realize that the pilot might become ill and be in need of attn. put an Emt.in there with the two pilots. Those three could board the plane from the outside with very close supervision. While the public could board from the terminal. I don't care what pilot you talk to, You are not going to talk or threaten him into crashing into a building over the phone

I agree that more stingent security is needed on flights into and out of the USA, all flights. There are few if any regulations for private corporate jets that could pose just as much of a threat as those that were utlized on Tuesday, September 11th 2001.The Airlines operating in the US and around the world could take a lesson if you will from EL AL Airlines based in Israel. They have security measures in place that seriously deter acts of terrorism. They have double re-enforced doors to limit access to the cockpit along with armed guards on board. Those operating in America could move in this direction, at a cost ... a cost that must be taken on the chin by the airlines themselves. Added security could be in the form of re-enfoced doors, armed security and perhaps even a firearm lockbox in the cockpit for pilot access only. In an event that something does go wrong on board and if it were needed to land for the safety of those on board and on the ground there could be some sort of non lethal gas pumped into the cabin contoled by the pilots redering all on board unconcious.Food for thought ...

I posted the same question on 9-12 and I agree with you. We build multimillion dollar airplanes and put pop can cockpit doors to protect this investment a long with what can't be replaced.(lives) I still can't believe our engineers and security people in charge of designing these planes didn't see this as importment. I still can't believe it. I still can't believe it.

What and worry the passangers????????? God forbid, or better the ticket buying public, forbid. Dont get me wrong I dont think a better door to the flight controls is a bad idea. Even a normal sized whacked out person can cause a catastrauphic event at 33 k feet. But don't forget until tuesday hijacking world wide had a 0% sucess rate anywhere in the world for the past 20 years. We wer'nt worried about turning a plane into a poor bomb, just turning it to the wrong country. toooooo complacent.
If guns cause crime, all mine are defective.
