This may be a politically incorrect question, But how many of you are packing something in car/truck (whatever)that maybe wasn't there 6 weeks ago? And I mean without the proper paper work! LEO don't have to answer-that a given.

I won't say one way or the other. I just like to make people wonder -- especially everyone in my chain-of-command.

.50 BMG, mounted in the back of my little Ranger. No, that's what I wished I had back there.

I agree with SP Tiger's closing. It is not if I am packing, but which one I am packing. I have no desire to need and not have handy.

When I was in the fast food business I carried all the time. At that time there was no chl, so it wasn't legal. But heck, all the local leo's knew it. They were some of my best customers. When I went out the back door at night my gun was in one hand and the day's receipts in the other.
So many guns to buy. So little money.

Always pack in VA & WVA. Legally. I traverse across a few states each week and still have my weapon in possession legally according to fed regulations.

Not carrying anything I wasn't carrying before. Just 100% now instead of 50%. With papers - foolish not to have that here - it's a "must issue" state.

I got my first handgun, a Ruger .22 auto, when I was 15. When I got my first car at 16, the Ruger was often in the car under the seat. Mostly to go to the river bottoms plinking, but a couple of times, in a more urban environment, having it at hand helped to avoid some ugliness, like a trip to the hospital. As I got older, my guns got bigger. Soon there was a Colt .45, also sometimes carried without regard for the legalities.I just got used to having a gun close at hand I guess, so I became a cop. Lest any of you wag your fingers and call me a hypocrite, be assured that I am not. I do not agree with the CHL laws that a lot of states have enacted, though it is probably the best thing going for those who want to pack legally. In my opinion, your right to carry, concealed or not is granted by God, and guaranteed by the Constitution. Any further legislation is superfluous.

In the state of texas it is legal to have a weapon in the vehicle as long as the magazine is out of the gun, and you are crossing three county lines. Tell them you are going to the shooting range, or your going on a trip!

Have good friend who always packs. Before CHL passed he always kept an overnight bag packed in his car. Theory was, if he got stopped and the officer found his gun, he would say he was on his way out of town on a trip, and therefore be exempted from the law as "traveling." He is an honest enough guy that, if the cop let him go, he would actually drive to a neighboring city and stay the night, so as not to be lying.

I work nights so there has always been something with me for my 30+ mile drive home. Cool weather it's usually a very early 1911 that I rebuilt myself from a parts gun. in warmer weather it's usually a little 22 derringer. And yes I do have a NYS carry permit, which is also a permit to own. People in other states don't realize how good they have it.

Wen I leved in Denver I wouldn't even think of going to the little gas n go for milk w/ out packing. (ccw prohibited in the city for honest citizens). Now back home in WV I carry everywhere legally.
If guns cause crime, all mine are defective.
