Now I know this sounds like a James Bond plot but I was thinking, seeing how the price on Bin Ladens' head was upped by corperate America to one billion bucks would you be willing to take the chance with your own life by going over to Afghanastan and Pakastan to hunt this POS down?

How are you going to get intelligence about his location and security forces? It's my understanding that the current reward, dead or alive is $30 million. I don't see any takers stepping forward. This is a country nearly the size of Texas with some very mountainous territory. There's little chance of fighting a land war in that place and winning. The Russians found that out. IMO we need to destroy the Taliban's military capability by bombing the hell out of their military, command and control facilities and political headquarters. Also support their opposition with arms and food. Their opposition will do the rest.

Bird Man I don't know if your remark was for me. I'm not a squid, I'm a Marine. And it would sure be nice to get back on active duty and go kick some *. Too bad I'm 65, they won't take old fudds like me.
So many guns to buy. So little money.

Badboybob, I think our country is not thinking straight. You have a few years on me but think of it this way. Old farts like us have lived our lives and don't have much to lose and are sure as hell not dumb enough to "fight fair" I would not hesitate to shoot anyone in the back that i was out to get! We might grunt and groan a bit trying to climb those mountains but we would get there sooner or later. Also think of all that knowledge of wars past we could bring to bear. Your buddy in arms, Rosie

I believe I'd give it a shot with a hand picked team.On second thought I'm toooo old. My heart is in it, but my body isn't.[This message has been edited by 4000fps (edited 10-03-2001).]

Yes, for thirty million, I would give it a shot. I would take my own left-handed Remington M700 VS in .308 Winchester. I would love to have even a one in ten billion chance to put a Sierra 168 grain BTHP Match bullet between his eyes. Considering how dangerous it is to drive to work everyday for such a paltry sum, the risk to take down bin Laden would be worth the reward.
Better to have and not need, than need and not have.

My handpicked team would consist of belly dancers who spoke fluent arabic. Hey, he's a man, isn't he? And never is anyone so vulnerable as when.....well, you get the idea.

Nuclear weapons disposal site for all countries, instead of "SALT II", we have "salted and incinerated". Afcrapastan the worlds largest piece of glass. It's rumored that the shadow on that rock in this cave was * lauden. The northern alliance now (300yrs after a quick run to about 4500F)runs tours to the old terrorist grounds. The terrorists, a now extinct species, were the first to be destroyed in the cleansing of the Earth. Hug a tree, praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.

I'm not talking about doing this for money. I was talking about a hunting trip. Should be lots of dall sheep, big horns Etc. A few thousand of us old farts could have a hell of a good time! Besides, I bet some of those old goats have some mighty long beards!

Where do I sign up - Oh yeah - I'm too old at 42. Anybody out there willing to back a team of old farts for, lets say, a 60/40 split. Hold on my wife just walked in - damn she said my insurance would not cover acts of war, and I can't go unless the house is payed for.
