Russian Wolf .223 ammo problems

I just bought a case of boxer primed Wolf Ammo and after doing it found out there is potential problems with the lacquer fouling the barrel of my AR-15 and also the steel cases aren't good for the rifle as well. anyone had experience and can you advise on the best method to clean out the lacquer.Actually I stumbled on to this at the Olympic Arms Webb site while looking for their Titanium Springs for the AR Magazines. Thanks to ISDman75 for the help.[This message has been edited by Otoman (edited 02-02-2002).]

Wolf is no longer going to be putting the laquer on the new runs of .223.In the meantime, just be sure to clean your rifle after each trip to the range. It takes awhile for the laquer to build up.

Have put 600-700 rounds of Wolf through my Mini 14, no problems. But like Evil said, I clean after each outing

I'm still a big fan of Wolf in any caliber and don't really like that they are doing away with the laquer. I buy several 1,000 round cases at once and store it away. The laquer helps it keep indefinately.Good fer buryin'!

I was looking on the Olympic Arms Webb Page and they have an Article about ammo, They won't warranty their guns if you use Wolf Ammo, I just bought 1,000 rounds for my Bushmaster. I am going to try it and see what happens. They say the tolerences are to close on the M16/AR15 Rifles to accomodate the lacquer build up...Auto

I havn't ever had any problems. I like it for keeping sharp on the iron sighted stuff and pistols. It allows you to plink all day for not a lot of $$$. I will keep buying it.I have shot hundreds of rounds, and upon getting home, I could find NO SIGNIFICANT buildup anywhere in the rifle.

All this bull about not using Russian ammo in ARs makes me wonder if russian manufacturers void their warranty if you use remmington in a sar-Ralphthats ok- you go pay $8-$10 a box, I'll keep my perfectly functioning wolf ammo at $2.49

I know your'e talking about .223ammo but, I been having a problem with Wolf 9mm Ammo fitting in after market mags. It seems to be a little to long in the nose. It jams the mag after putting in four or five rounds. But can't beat the price $89.00/1,000 rounds.

The 7.62x39 ammo I buy isnt Wolf, but I still dont know what it is.It comes in boxes of 20, with paper seperating every layer of 5.Theres no company name on it, just a funny looking symbol on the rim and the box that looks like the Jumping Jack clown. Y'know, it's a circle with an upside-down cone on the top and a square around the circle.Oh, it's all hollow-point too.Oh, and as I'm sure you all know, dont use Wolf ammo in a chrome-lined barrel. The steel casings screw the bejesus out of the chrome finish and you'll end up with serious problems after a few years.[This message has been edited by Bullzeye (edited 02-04-2002).]

I hadn't heard about that, Bullz. Can someone confirm this?Bullz:I have the same ammo for my AK, along with a lot of Wolf. That hollopoint stuff smells funny, like Vasoline, but works great!

EVIL, that smell is a greater concentration of sulphur. At least that is what I was told at the range one day.I don't understand the chrome lined thing, the bullets are still copper jacketed 7.62 mm bullets. Is it that the steel cases scar and scrape the chamber and not the rifling? How could a copper jacketed bullet affect rifling unless it is oversized?

I'm not precisely sure how or why, but based on what numerous people have told (and shown) me, Wolf steel casings will fudge up a chrome lined barrel pretty badly.Apparently, copper is soft enough that it's okay.

When using their 45 ACP, I got several failures to extract because of the steel case splitting.I'll never use that garbage again.
