SIG QUESTION

I just bought a like new Sig p220 .45 with a lasermax sight. The Rock Island .45 I bought turned out to be junk. My question on the Sig is : Is the hammer supposed to stay off the firimg pin when it is in the de-cocked or un-cocked position? I've never had a gun which did this. Once someone tells me it is okay, I'll go out and shoot it.

What are the basic differences, if there are any, in the Sigs made in Germany and the ones from good old USA?

Why id it that the Sig-Pro 2340 costs so much less than the other models[?][?][?]. I've seen these suckers for $400 flat.

    Thanks,

I GOT A SIG P-226.WHEN I CLEAN IT I NORMALLY PUT A GOOD BIT OF OIL IN THE SLIDE RAILS AND IN THE GROOVES IN THE SLIDE THAT THEY RUN IN,NOT DRIPPING BUT AFTER RUB OIL ON IT I PUT TWO OR THREE DROPS IN EAGH SLIDE RAIL GUIDE IVE BEEN TOLD THAT YOU CAN OVER OIL A GUN I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THIS SOUNDED EXCESSIVE?

Does anyone know if SIG ever made a pistol in 10mm? I have a co-worker who thought he heard of such a thing. I've never seen one so I figured I'd throw it out here for the heck of it.

    Thanks.

hi Walt. The reason for not over oiling is to prevent grime build up .It collects dust and dirt. It sounds like you may be over doing it. Just wipe it down before putting it back together. Good fortune to you.[This message has been edited by FMJ (edited 12-17-2001).]

wipe it lightly with RemOil. Works on everything else too.

Brownell's had a neat product called Action Magic II or something like it. It is a two step process that applies a dry durable film that reduces friction just like oil, but will not attract dust. Works great on slide rails.

The nitron coating that Sig uses has very good friction reducing properties,I usually don't lubricate anything on my Sigs except for running a tetra lube patch down the bore then following it up with a dry patch.I have never had any malfunctions with any of my sigs. I do however use a little tetra on the rails of my P-210,since it does not have the modern Sig finish...

My very first "real" handgun was a P226. (I ""'d real because technically my first firearm was a Raven Arms .25 auto with nickel plating and fake ivory grips!)I regret ever having gotten rid of it, but I needed the cash to buy my Glock 23...that I also traded straight across for a stainless Beretta 92FS...that I sold in the newspaper to buy my S&W 686P...that I sold here on Gunbroker for cash to buy my Colt 1991A1...that I just sold here on Gunbroker to buy my Springfield Armory 1911A1. I have a headache.
