Thank you very much, gentlemen!I'm located in WA state. Seems NICS is down right now. Weak. I'll have to try and dig up my state's ATF office line.I live on the Oregon border on the Washington side, so I get the phone book for the city of Portland and not my home state.Anybody happen to know WA state's ATF office line for NICS checks or where I can find it? The operator listed 5,000 possibilities to me...

NICS is a function of the FBI, not ATF. Just did one, they're up.

If you do not have the phone number, I was stirred to ask if you have registered yet. You have to be registered and have a password on file with them.Colorado checks go to Denver CBI for both state and FBI checks. Service is quite good. A website has just been activated for faster checks. If the system is down, the data is still retained and will be processed whereas a phone call must be replaced over and over.

Evil ATF, did you get a ENROLLMENT PACKAGE?The FBI has to process your National instant criminal Background check system (NICS) enrollment materials.and you will have to have a "password"Call them at customer service at 1 -877-444 6427and ask for enrollment package. (which they should have sent you already, but it is another way to keep you from selling guns for alittle longer. Dave and CWF
