Statement from Steve Spanios about the standoff in Florida.
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
My name is Steve Spanios. My family and I are victims of a system run amok. The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF/CPS) has kidnapped my oldest daughter and my three remaining children are wanted for confiscation. In the court's most recent action, an order for my arrest has been made and I am now a wanted criminal for not surrendering them to this tyrannical agency. Where is the country of my youth that the state can take children and destroy families with impunity, but parents protecting their own can be held in contempt of court? What has America become?
For years I have been an activist to restore the character and identity of the country I love, to preserve its heritage and history, to pass down our proud beliefs and traditions. During that time, I have seen the accelerated loss of much we hold dear, including our Bill of Rights and the sacred Word of God. More now than ever, many of us fight the good fight because we know how close we are to loosing it all. From the war on drugs to the war on terrorism, from public safety to family service initiatives, from educational institutions to television programming, the cycle is almost complete: this is no longer a proud and strong America. We have acquiesced our rights and responsibilities to the state and it's out of control.
A most diabolical action is underway in our country, and it has gone virtually unnoticed to the eyes of public scrutiny. It is the confiscation of our most precious asset, our children. And the pace is quickening. Across our nation, thousands of children each day are removed from their homes by the power of the state. Child Protective Services, or DCF in Florida, has more documented abuses with the system than without. And to add insult to injury, by close examination of statute, you will find that neither you nor your children have any right or redress against the powers that be. Except only to submit.or to fight outside the framework of the system. I have chosen the latter. I have chosen to fight.
It had come to my attention that I am the victim of a recent campaign of damage control. Since DCF hadn't done enough in the past, all children in any circumstance shall be confiscated to ensure the image of the state. In the last few months, the pick-up of children has become exponential. For example, some DCF offices temporarily house several dozen children in the absence of available facilities. Since these are offices, they have no kitchen, showering or sleeping areas. Kids from a few years old to teenagers are cramped in rooms all night with the supervision of usually one employee, staying elsewhere in the building. They are given pillows, but sometimes there are not enough blankets. A `Happy Meal' is their one and only connection to a once normal life. Since they are herded like cattle without consideration for who should be separated from whom, bad things can and do happen. A sexually abused teenager could be sleeping right next to your confiscated child. And as if being torn away from his or her parents isn't bad enough, the abuse begins, unbeknownst to anyone since this is all confidential. My friends, this is a national tragedy. Families are being destroyed, children are being murdered and it must be stopped.
Considering the power and influence of the state, I had beforehand thought of moving away and hiding, as others have done. But that is what the enemy wants, for us to cower, powerlessly. I know that one should live to fight another day, but the fight is here and now. As it became clear to me the importance of what was happening, I understand hereafter the blood of every child who would be abused or die would be on my hands unless I stood up to this injustice. So, this is it, all or nothing. I am an American. It's time to put my money where my mouth is. I can no longer stand by and let this happen to my people. I cannot let the state spit on the graves of the men, women and children that died to ensure our freedom. I do believe the worst thing in the world is when good men do nothing and I will not bury my talent in the earth, for my Lord expects an account of it.
I have received a great show of support, but it has yet to reveal its true strength, the resolve of individual Americans coming together in unity. Slowly, with the advent of an Internet web site ( http://www.dcf-tyranny.com/ ), and with the help of folks like you, the word is being spread. They are stealing our children and it has to be stopped. The stakes are high and the state will fight to preserve its power. It's big business to keep federal and state tax monies flowing into the pockets of the involved legal, medical and social professions, people our elected officials are fervently aligned with. Anyone against the system will be vilified.or worse, unless the power of the public gets and stays behind this effort. I implore you to do your part. It's not about the rights we may or have already lost; it's about the very heart of who we are in the flesh, our children. All of my concerns about the legality of seat belts vs. un-helmeted motorcyclists, corrupt judges and officials, dishonest politicians and greedy corporations have been set aside. The real fight is on another front; it is here. When they steal, abuse and murder your flesh and blood, it's not an issue that can be changed or effected at the ballot box or jury box. It's a matter of life and death, not only for us as individuals, but also for us as a nation. It's time to make a stand.
I have been warned of the possible consequences, that it may cost my life and possibly my children's. The dark visions of past lethal force by a challenged authority remained fixed on my conscience. The "by force" designation on my children's "pick-up" order could mean the same thing. We have had many discussions about the possible end result. Many others didn't have a choice, but we do and we remain faithful to our convictions that our place "shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat."
During all this, my oldest son of fourteen years has shown his true metal. He has the maturity and courage most men lack, current company excluded. I am proud of him beyond words, as I am of all my children with me. One night he confessed he didn't want to die, but he clarified it was in the context that all people don't want to die unnecessarily. He is, as we are all, prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for our convictions. As I love many of you, I love my children especially. They are more precious to me than pure gold. I will not fail them and we will not fail you. We live together free and, if we must, we will die together free.
Abraham Lincoln once said, "I am very often driven to my knees by the conviction that I have no choice." My time has come. I too have arrived at this place and I am not afraid. My resolve is greater than ever. My mind is set on higher things. Our children deserve that. For what I may be forced to do, may God have mercy on my soul.

DCF refuses to recognize the court's decision and is proceeding full steam ahead to get the remaining kids.
Check out all the information and links I provided before condemning the guy. He's in the right on this one. He didn't kidnap his kids. He's preventing the DCF from doing that.
Obviously you fellas are familiar with all the stuff that has been going on with Florida's DCF lately or you'd be pretty peeved. Something like 50% of all kids placed in DCF's care are physically abused by the social workers. 70% are sexually abused.
I guess I'm just old fashioned. If someone claimed I was abusing my boy and CPS/DCF wanted to just "hold onto him" for awhile until it got sorted out, they could take him so long as they could get past the business end of my M1A.
I'm trying not to be a prick, but you people need to take the time to get fully briefed before making such comments, no matter how politely they are phrased.

Unless the site is an actual police-use-only database, then the warrant won't likely show up for several days, if not weeks.
I'm sure htey've got a team of people who do nothing but sit there everyday and update the warrants hourly.

Steve has copies of the order issued by the judge, yet DCF refuses to back down and has somehow gotten a warrant for his arrest for his refusal to cooperate.
So, how can a guy get a warrant out on him for failure to cooperate when the DCF has been told in no uncertain terms to stand down?
A lot of this doesn't make sense. I'm just reporting all I know.

A warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to give his remaining children to DCF.
He was hoping for a peaceful standoff, but when he saw the fuzz around the corner he bugged out for greener pastures.
Anyhow, thought some of you also post on Assault Web might like to know.
