I recently traded for some mags from a local gun show. How can you tell they are/are'nt pre-ban all for 10/22 mitchell, butler creeks, condor, eagle, etc?

If they are 10/22 mags then i would think they have to be preban. they not been made them since the brady bill which makes them very expensive. I BOUGHT ONE ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO AND SET ME BACK $70.

You forget that the mags are legal in other countries.
New ones are sold in Canada and smuggled into the US.
If there are no dates on it,I wouldn't worry unless you commit some major felony.

Thank's I'm sure this are preban, thats not the issue. I've got an auction running, and a fellow asked me about it.It just makes you think. This whole "high capacity ban" is crazy. Come on I mean on 22lr.What is the point. Ar and ak mags are almost at the lowest price ever, cheaper now than 8yrs ago. Huh

THANKS CPERMD,I am a little naive and thought these hi-cap. mags were only made in the states and therefore were not being made anymore.

Someone needs to explain to me the whole deal with the hicap ban. What difference does it make to them if I'm carrying 5 more rounds in my concealed piece? Makes me think the author of that law had a couple of hundred hicap mags laying around that he wanted to increase the value of ;-)

Not 5 rounds if I understood correctly, but 5 MORE rounds, meaning a 9mm mag that used to hold 15 is currently allowed to hold 10 max.

So many weirdnesses around this whole issue. I can go to any gun show and find 30 and 40 round (or more) magazines at relatively low prices. Many appear new. You can buy versions of the AK for well under $300 to go with them. Yet you can get in trouble for modifying your own personal SKS to accept exchangeable mags.

Oh, and I saw a metal-lined 30 round Glock mag at the last gun show for $75, so those are coming down, by the way.

It all goes back to the whole boiling frog scenario.

In five more years, they'll ban those evil ten round mags and drop the limit to five or so rounds per mag.

In twenty years, they'll make everything single-shot only. Gotta keep those Tactical Assault Ruger Red Labels out of the schools, ya' dig?

The idea is to make it more and more difficult to defend yourself. Then you have to rely on big government to protect you.

Ironically, a lot of politicians own private security and executive protection firms. Hmmm....making a little on the side once you can't defend yourself.
