Ok. This morning I entered the glock contest. Guess what?? After Hours of practice and $700 spent I won. I had a lot of fun today. I tought that it would just be 1 round but so many people showed up there where 3 rounds. Each round I got better. I took pictures of my new gun and award and will share when I get them developed this week. The fact that I am young and strong helped alot but the fact that I practice was the key. Alot of people tought that just showing up and shooting would make them win was very wrong because I blew everyone out of the water. I would like to thank every one that offered good luck and gave advise becasue I used a little bit of what every one said and could not have done it with out you all.

If you will blame gun makers for every shooting then blame car maker for every car accident.

Thanks for keeping us updated! I had almost forgotten about the event. What was the grand prize? Did you get more than just a certificate? Are you going to share the prize with everyone that gave you advice in your previous thread? heh heh heh

The top prize was a the glock of choice. I picked the same glock 17 that I shot with. They told met that I could have a new glock but I said no. I would rather have the glock that I won my first contest with. If any one is ever itn the richmond va area fell free to shoot me a email so we can get together and shoot OUR glock 17.

Wow! Don't think of it as a $700 Glock though. Nobody can practice at the range without spending a lot on ammo, and you had a lot of fun shooting. So you still got a bargain -- the accomplishment of learning the drill, the excitement of competition, the pride of winning the contest, AND a new Glock 17. Life offers few moments that feel better than accomplishment. Way to go.

Congrats ... I think Paul Newman said it in The Hustler quote:Money earned is good ... Money won is SWEET You didn't spend $700 on the Glock, it was an investment in proficency ... which you still have. Winning the Glock was interest earned on that investment ... Good going!

As a man who has been buying Glocks since the first G17 came out, I understand. You have a carry gun you are good with and can count on. Not theory, but fact, and you have the trophy to prove it. Few people are as well armed with a handgun as you are now with this particular gun. If you're like me, you may find the Glock becomes second nature, and as much as you may come to like other fine quality guns, you may always own a Glock and feel you're best with it. Glock Simplicity is more than a slogan.

Anyway, we're proud of you. I think it's great you followed through and made it happen. You may have taught some other shooters a good lesson around there as well, and if they were paying attention, the competition will be tougher next year (!).

ccasey, I'd love to. In my many years of collecting and shooting for some reason I've never even shot a Glock. I've always wanted one. My big mistake back in the early 90's was when I bought american, a S&W Sigma piece of junk. If I would have bought that Glock 17 I know I would still have it. I sold the Sigma a few months back for $350 in excellent condition and still felt guilty accepting that much. Maybe you can give me some shooting lessons. You've got to be better than me now with all the shooting you've been doing. Talk to you soon.
